Well, I just joined this site today and I made the decision not too long ago (relatively speaking) to go ahead with surgery. My surgery date is Oct 23rd. I start pre-op testing tomorrow and I'm already on the modified-Adkins diet. I really have no idea what I'm doing as far as these forums are concerned but someone suggested I give it a try. I really don't know what to expect since I've never done anything like this before and I'm not really a big "joiner" type of person. Anyway, I'm just real excited about getting my life and my body back!

Hi Edrienna!! Welcome to the board! I have lurked more than posted over the last 4-5 months, but I feel like family because of the way everyone pulls together and helps one another. Congrats on your surgery date! I made the decision to do this surgery back in April - so technically I don't guess I've been at it all that long either. I think the worst part for me was waiting the 3 weeks for approval from my insurance company, as it seemed to drag on forever. I have done all my testing (EGD, Bloodwork, Echocardiogram, nut appts, phyche eval), so all I have to do now is a 'teaching class' and meet with my surgeon again on the 17th, then my pre-admin stuff at the hospital on the 18th. I'm excited about the concept of getting my life back too (and getting back in touch with MYSELF - I seem to have lost who I really am in this body).
