Vickie, I agree with the advice posted by some others here: GET A SECOND OPINION from a gastroenterologist. You need someone who specializes in the digestive tract. This kind of pain is not normal, and you should not wait. What kind of doctor are you seeing? If this is your family doctor, or internist, you would really benefit from seeing a specialist. If this is your WLS surgeon, then ask them to suggest a gastroenterologist for you to see and ask them to make the appointment for you so you get seen fast. You can't wait. This is potentially life threatening, so please don't mess around, go get diagnosed correctly and get the treatment you need.
Take care of yourself and stand up for your rights as a patient! You deserve it!

Vickie its your life. Don't sit and wait, find someone to listen. You can't keep this up. My Cat Scan in the ER was read as normal but my doc saw the twist and took me to surgery. I would get another opion for sure. Don't beat yourself up over the drinking. You did what you needed for that moment. Glad you pitched the bottle.

Topic: RE: What a Year!!!
We'll all stick together like glue, Ms. Shelly! I can't believe how fast time has passed, a whole year went by in the blink of an eye. 87 pounds melted away so quickly. It is so puzzling to think that for over 30 years of my life I have struggled to lose weight and practically overnight it disappeared. Isn't life awesome????
Keep in touch!

Vickie, usually I would say follow your doctors advise, but this time I think I'd agree with everyone else. Even after a year, with ulcers there is still the possiblity of a leak forming in your pouch I believe. (Someone jump in here please and confirm or deny!) I had a leak ten days after surgery, and it was the worst pain I've ever had in my life. Serious infection had set in, and I was in the hospital for ten days. You may not have a leak but you don't want to postpone finding out either.
Your body has a warning system and that is pain. Something is definitely wrong and needs to be treated now, not after a month. This is your body. Call your surgeon and tell him you can't wait a month, that the pain is too much. Put your foot down gal!
Let us know what happens! Hugs to ya!

Vickie,
Go see a Gastroenetologist. They may be able to pinpoint whats not right. You may need a colonoscopy to see if everything is ok. I'm not a nurse but I do work in the Medical Field. I wouldn't wait too see if it gets better. I would go to ASAP.
I go to mine almost immediately if something is wrong. You don't need help, you just need to go to the right doctor. Sounds like your doc is giving you the BS. Find a good Gastroenterologist and make an appt. Also, request to your doc about having a CT Scan done. It can't hurt.
I'd keep pestering your do****il he/she realizes that something is really wrong. DON'T WAIT. I don't mean to sound pushy or anything, but this is something with your body that needs to be addressed and adressed immediately. If your doc does give you BS or some excuse, find another 1, there are plenty of others that i'm sure would be glad to help you.
I hope what I've said helps. You can't wait until something more seriously develops.
I hope all goes well. Please let me know if I can do anything at all.

Wow Vickie~
I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain! Have you thought about going to another doctor for a second opinion and maybe going to one that will be more aggressive with your treatment? How scary is that..that you can't eat?! Your health is in some serious jeopardy Vickie..I hope you find out what's wrong! You can't wait around for this doctor..how are you getting your nutrients in and your protein? Are you able to drink (protein shakes/milk)? It sounds like the doctor is just medicating your problem and not taking care of the issue and your medicine isn't working so you're reaching for what works...alcohol. That's an even bigger demon! I was using it to help myself sleep a few months ago because of my insomnia. I ended up throwing it out! I think it's good that you threw yours out too. I don't like to drink either but I turned to it because it worked for me. I'm glad that you were able to realize that this is a problem for you and your family and that you called for some help.
Keep me updated on how you're doing. Keep your head up!
