Topic: RE: This Thanksgiving compared to last!
Wow, last Thanksgiving I was recovering from a nasty infection that recurred at my drain site. So I spent most of the day in my recliner, high on pain killers, feeling down because I couldn't make the trip to spend the day with my family, and just being miserable. I think it was the lowest point I had after my surgery. Fast forward to this year: I ate a reasonable amount of food, hiked in the woods for about an hour after dinner, and then had a small amount of dessert. I ate a reasonable amount of food, especially when compared to what I would have eaten before my surgery! I enjoyed spending the day with my family, and was so thankful for what a difference a year can make. I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving! Kellie

Jeanne, This one will be easier. Last Thanksgiving all I could have was 2 oz of protein, so I had turkey and nothing else. I will only eat what I can, some turkey, very little stuffing or potatos, and some veggies. I'm bringing some popsicles to have for dessert. I won't be that hungry as I will probably do a protein shake a few hrs before to help keep me satisfied. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving Lisa J. in Mass

Topic: This Thanksgiving compared to last!
Hi all my October babies! Well gang, this Thanksgiving sure will be different from last year won't it?? Last year I was about 6 weeks out and a little apprehensive about the big dinner. I was at my kids' Godmother's house, she is Cuban and cooks for 2 days, her Thanksgiving dinners are amazing. She makes the traditional American dishes and roast pork, black beans, yuca etc. I had a little piece of dark meat turkey with a spoonful of black beans to keep it extra moist. It was strange watching everyone else pig out! I stayed focused on my new way of eating, and enjoyed the people and the conversation more than ever. Now this year - I'm at my sister's in Georgia and she makes a traditional dinner. In fact as soon as she gets home from work the two of us are going to hit the kitchen and get started! I hope to taste a little bit of everything. I did miss the stuffing last year and mashed taters. This year it may be challenging not to eat too much, as I've noticed lately I can eat a larger portion than I have all year. I will again try to stay focused and will definitely be enjoying the people, this is the first Thanksgiving in a LONG time I've been with my family. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! How does it compare to last year for you? I'd love to hear everyone's stories! Take care and God Bless, Jeanne
