Keke, in order to get it medically approved, my understanding is that you need to have a certain amount (not sure how many grams) of tissue removed, it can't just be a cosmetic breast lift. Also you need to have a medical reason, e.g. pain in your back, shoulders, due to the weight of the breast tissue. I'm not saying you should lie, but if there is any shoulder ache, upper pack pain, talk to your doctor about it, talk about how many years you have felt it, whether you have to use ice, a heating pad, massage, to get relief from the discomfort. The surgery has to be performed for a medical reason. One other medical reason is if you ever get skin problems, like fungal infections in the skin, due to excess breast tissue. That can be a problem during summertime heat, I had it happen once under my breasts, it was very uncomfortable, mostly itchy, and was treated with anti-fungal topical medications. I'm sorry Vegas won't work out, but as it turns out, I'll be there twice in February! Once for work, and once with my husband on a trip he has planned for the two of us. I couldn't really justify a third trip back in March, so it's just as well... I hope this helps! Sheryl

Hi Cindy, Unfortunately, not everyone is happy for you when you make a life change for the better. You have to remember that others in your life are likely to suffer from the same problems that lead you to seek help like WLS and admitting you are better off often means they have to look at themselves and deal with their own inadequecies. I talk a bit about my experiences in my profile which I invite you to read--I was yelled at by a co-worker and called some ugly names, but I won't let that deter me--I made the best decision in my life to have this surgery. The hardest part is letting go of relationships that don't support you and your life changes. I'm sorry you've also had some hard times with people, I know that their lack of acceptance and support is more painful than what is actually said to you sometimes. I can only recommend that you try to limit your time with these people and try to surround yourself with friends/family that are truly happy for you. I have a hard time just "getting over" what people think so I've made some new friends and changed my relationship with others. I will never apologize or justify my surgery to anyone ever again nor will I say I'm sorry for being successful in admitting my health issues and actually doing something about it. Other people are just that--other people. They have their own issues that you will never be able to work through for them. So be happy with your phenominal success and let "others" go! Best of luck, -Laura

Karen, I think what you said makes a lot of since. I went to Waffel house this morning w/ my son and I sampled his chocolate chip/pecan waffle and I can not stop snacking today. I am going to gho back to meat and veggies and see if I can get over this issue. I do not ingest too many sugar grams but I do eat those 100 calorie snack packs. I dont dump but I have noticed that I tend to eat more when I eat them. I have lost 90 lbs in 14 months. I was a lightweight to begin and I feel like I am probably not going to loose much more weight, but I want to loose between 15-25 more pounds...just for me. The weight I am at now is great...I am in a size 12 - havent been that size since I was that age- Lol.....I have increased the water, and exercise....I am working on the protein....We are going to master this....It is coming I can feel it!
