Topic: Reflux? Plus: eating on the road and a WOW
My friends, I've been doing my usual disappearing act - I've been traveling on business, this is my 4th week in a row and it is taking a toll on me and at home too. Sorry not to have checked in with you all more often! Last week, my voice felt funny, like I was a little hoarse. Then on Sunday, I had this feeling deep in my throat, like I was maybe beginning to catch a cold, sort of an irritated feeling. On Monday, I finally recognized the feeling, it felt like when I used to have acid reflux (about 5 or 6 years ago). My doctor had taken me off Protonix (acid reducer) at my 6 month check-up, but warned me to be on the look-out for symptoms of acid reflux or ulcer. Of course, I didn't pack any Protonix in my suitcase, but I picked up some Pepcid at a drug store and it seems to be helping, so I am pretty confident reflux is the culprit. Back on that Protonix, as soon as I get home from this business trip! Eating on the road has been challenging; my usual healthy choices are harder to find. Room service breakfast: a big glass of skim milk and 1/2 of a breakfast burrito loaded with eggs. My client brought in lunch today: pizza. I limited myself to one small slice. Dinner: caesar salad with dressing on the side (so I can dip my fork) and a roasted turkey sandwich (no mayo, and I ate half of the sandwich). My indulgence was a glass of wine with dinner, and a handful of jellybeans after lunch. I guess that's not too bad, though I didn't get nearly enough fruit or veggies today. My WOW: the hotel robe fits me, with plenty to spare! Sheryl

Vi, you are so right. The compliments do feel good, and eating food is easier...that might explain why my weight has been stable for the past month, I haven't lost (or gained, thank goodness). But like you, I have not reached my personal goal, and I need to keep striving for it FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. The focus, the effort, can never end, or we will tack the pounds back on. Thanks for the timely reminder! Sheryl

they have had me on oxycontin for over a year so i am looking forward to not needing it anymore. I am very careful as to when i take it and to how much to avoid addiction. I know for a fact that I can live without it and only take it when the pain gets so bad that I am puking from pain. I am so nervous about this surgery though. and you are the only one thats senile LMAO I even forget when i have started laundry or when the last time i ate was.... that one got me in trouble yesterday but had a protein bar finally at 930 last night hugggzzzzzzzzzzz Kim 276/185/fitting into micheal meyers cat in th hat costume that i now have posession of lol ( the one he actually wore in the movie)

WooHoo girlfriend! I am so excited for you!! I'm 12 lbs away one day, then 14 the next! You'll be able to hear me all the way up there when I make it!! My brother & step-mom both had those same areas fused. My brother has made remarkable progress, but both he & my s-mom got hooked on the Oxycontin they were given for pain. Apparently that's some very addicting stuff! E-mail me before your surgery so I don't forget! I'm senile!! Hugz, Gina L

Erin, you look great!!! Believe me, I don't feel small either. We really don't perceive ourselves the same way others see us. To me, and I'm sure everyone else, you look fantastic! Marcia

Thank you! I have been doing weights since the end of January. For a long time, I did them every other day, now it's just about twice a week. I do low weights and 3 sets of 15 reps. I didn't realize they looked like that until I posed for the picture. I may go with a teal colored sandal. That is the color of the trim on the dress. Thanks for the idea. Marcia

Nice dress BTW--I'd go with a shoe the color of the accent on your dress--is it silver? Otherwise that's a lot of brown color. Congrats on your 6--you're looking great! -Laura
