Topic: Just checking in -
It seems like our cohort's posting are becoming a little more sparse these days. From what I'm reading, it seems like a lot of us have settled into a "normal" life and are just enjoying ourselves. Although I don't post every day, I do check this forum to see what's going on. I like hearing about how everyone is doing, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Anyway, just wanted you all to know I'm thinking about you, even if I'm not a regular poster. Congrats to those of you who have made goal or are close to goal, and good luck to those of us who still have more to lose! We've all come a long way

Congratulations on hitting a major milestone. Those come more slowly the further out we get from our surgery dates, so celebrate, celebrate, celebrate!

Congrats on you Milestone. You look marvelous. Keep up the great work.
Wish I had this done before my wedding 6yrs ago. I'm sure your Aunt is looking down from above and smiling because you are doing something that as you said wasn't available to her.
Keep it up. Hope you reach goal real soon.

Topic: Just found out I have Anemia
I got a call from the Nurse practitioner at my surgeons office. I have Anemia, guess my vitamins don't have enough iron in them.
She said I have to take iron supplements. I just bought chewable iron from the Bariatrix site. Hope they taste good. Still having issues with swallowing pills. I still gag somewhat, the nutritionist says I worked myself up to make me not want to try to swallow anything small. I tried swallowing the Bariatrix vitamins as it said they were small enought to swallow, hello I gagged again. Am I going insane?
I bought some chewables and I will use them. Hope everyone is doing well. Chat soon.

Topic: RE: UPDATE: BAD "P.T." APPOINTMENT!!
Erin,
You poor thing, just what you needed. I know what spraining an ankle is like, I had a severe sprained ankle in Nov. 2005, needed a cane for 2 months and finished with PT in April, 2006. I worked in a PT office for years. Take it easy and only do what you can, don't over do it.
As for your back, try a chiropractor. I love mine. I get my adjustments 3 times a week and it feels so good, I also have worked for a chiropractor too. Think i've been in the medical field too long (18 Yrs), and that not even being a nurse.
Recover quick as you have some plans to finish for September. Take it slow, time will heal all.

Topic: Made a milestone!
I hit a major milestone today; my weight dropped below the 180s. Yippee! I weigh 179.5. My weight loss has slowed tremendously as I have approached my personal goal of 165; honestly, at this point, if I can just keep off what I have lost, I would be thrilled. I am getting close to another milestone, reaching a BMI of 25. Right now my BMI is 25.8, so I'm getting really close to "normal".
This from a person who had a BMI of 43 just over a year ago! It's nothing short of miraculous. I could not have done this without WLS, and I only wish WLS had been available to my dear aunt who died of health problems related to obesity. We are so fortunate to live in a time when this is available to us!
I know that not all of us are nearing our goal weight at this point - to all of you with more weight still to lose, keep up the good work! I'm with you all the way! We all have so much to celebrate!

Kim, good luck with your surgery! I'm sorry you're going through so much but I hope that, in the end, you'll have some relief from the terrible pain you must be experiencing. Best wishes to you!

Topic: RE: Anyone else experiencing this??
I'm slightly more averse to meat than I was before surgery - it's never been my first choice but I seem to like it even less now. I really have to force myself sometimes to eat the meat. But it's such a good protein source, I can't imagine taking it off my menu completely. Honestly, I eat meat usually once a day, and the rest of my protein is from dairy or things like beans (garbanzo beans etc.).
Meat is hard to digest for many of us now, I'll bet that's why your stomach churns; it knows it'll have a harder time with it! Maybe if you stick with ground meats, like hamburger, or soft meats, like fish (salmon, I love that), you'll have better luck.
Just keep up the protein!
