I too feel like I'm at the place where I really have to work at losing. I really can tolerate fairly large portions and almost all food except sugar (and sometimes too much fat). It's easy for me to eat 1500 calories a day and I think that is not much less than I am burning. I am trying to be happy about what I have lost. Your loss has been amazing! 143 pounds in 9 months! I wouldn't be surprised if your body was just taking a breath to catch up! Carbs are trouble for me too. They are the most comfortable and least work to eat. I have been pushing vegetables (my new love is grilled green beans), and portion controlled carbs. I love those 100 calorie bags of popcorn! I do that instead of using my airpopper because I could easily eat 6 cups while watching television or reading. I also like many of us, enjoy beef jerkey. I portion it when I first open the bag so I can keep the sugar under 5 grams. Best of luck to you!

Topic: No loss in 4 weeks -
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. I'd been losely steadily for the first 8 months, and now the loss seems to have stopped. I've been around the same weight for the past 4 weeks now.
I reviewed what I've been eating for the past 2-3 months and noticed that my daily carb consumption has slowly been creeping up from around 120 grams per day back in May to closer to 200 grams/day now!!! So my plan to see if I can get myself losing again is to bring the daily carbs back down to around 100-120 grams. I've been getting 80-100 grams of protein per day, so will try to keep that number consistent. And although I get in the minimum amount of water/liquid each day, I'll bump that up too. I've been good about exercising so will keep up with what I'm doing, plus try to add some new activities as well.
This is the first point since my surgery where I feel like my new habits and control over food will be tested. I'm working hard to not let my thoughts devolve back to the place that says "it doesn't matter what you eat, you're never going to lose weight." Intellectually I know that's not true, so I'm forcing the intellect to take control of the emotions and the old thought patterns, replacing them with new, healthy ideas.
Anyway, I knew you folks would understand like no one else quite seems to, so wanted to share where I'm at. Best of luck to anyone else out there that is having the same struggle. Hopefully we can all handle it, one day at a time.

Topic: RE: What are we eating, these days?
Dennis,
Excellent question! My surgery was 10/05 and my starting weight was 330 and today I'm at 180...however I've been at 180 for a month now..........so that said...I need to get the last 15 pounds off....I suppose eating popcorn and chips and salsa or sf cookies here and there isn't going to cut it...so I'm back on track to my typical day w/ is.....
(exercise)
all my vitamins( 3 chewable completes, 1 biotin, 1 vit. c tablet and 2x a week b-12 sub and 1 x a week b 1) (minus the calcium- I take it in the evening)
1 cup D-caff coffee
Break-1 string cheese, 3 strips of l-fat bacon or oatmeal or a protien bar
1 23 oz. propel water
Lunch- 1 cup of turkey chili w/ cheese or a salad w/ cheese and an oz. of raisons
1 23 oz propel water
Sup- either a salad w/ cheese or wendys small chili
snack-sugar free popcycles
this is pretty much all my staples...I either eat one or the other listed........
sometimes I snack on beef jerky or a protien bar or those mini boxes of raisons.......
I ran my schedule past my nut. because I was concerned that the scale isn't moving and she said to continue what I'm doing and make sure I get in at least 60-65 grams of protien a day.....and of course to keep exercising.....
any-way good to know I'm not alone and that any suggestions on my shedule or vit. let me know....
Thanks,
Vickie

Congrats on both.....it is my surgiversary also. I am down 128 lbs. I have 76 lbs to go to reach the surgeons goal and 79 lbs to personal goal. I could not be happier. This is by far the best decision I ever made for myself......

Topic: 9 Months out...
Well, today is my 9 month sugiversary. I went for a dr. appt today and she said all my numbers are good! She is requesting an additional iron test to make sure that is ok, but everything else is fine.
I am down 123 lbs!!!!!! I started my journey at 323 and am now 200 according to the dr.'s scale. (I like mine better... if finally said 199!!!)
I feel great. I am exercising 3 times a week and..... are you ready for this....actually feel as though something is missing if I can't get to the gym! NEVER thought I would say that!!!
I started wearing size 32 pants and am now wearing 14 and 16's!! I just went through my closet again and cleared out a lot of stuff that was too big!
I'm so thankful right now with the hot weather to be thinner, 9 months ago I wouldn't have been surviving this heat (113 degrees yesterday). Now, I'm still hating the heat, but I can breathe and still move without collapsing!
Thanks for everyone's support, I read your posts everyday, even if I don't write much myself!

Topic: SUPPORT WHEN NEEDED....
Let me know if you think this might be a good idea.
We all seem to be at goal or pretty close. I know a lot of us are worried about gaining, not getting enough water, exercise, being able to eat foods we should not be eating. Maybe you have skin issues or personal issues related to your weight loss.
How about , those who are willing, exchanging numbers. I know there are times I want to speak to someone, that is the 9 months out, going through what I am going through, without having to type it.
I have unlimited Long Distance and I would love to help anyone or even have someone help me when I feel like I may be falling off the wagon.
What do you think??
