I need to do this also. I gained 8 lbs from my lowest and was stable at 125lb now the last 2 weeks I have been "feeling fat". I finally weighed myself and I weighed 138lbs. I am freaking out. I can't believe I am getting fat this way. I am going to check out the pouch test right now.
Topic: RE: Additional Health Problems
Hi,
I have to have another 2 surgeries, only 1 is related to my RNY.
The opening from my stomach to my small intestine got stretched, so now I am scheduled May 5th to have a ring placed in there so I can continue the weight loss I still need to lose.
When the anastomosis got stretched it caused me to get hungry sooner and I was able to eat more, so I lost 90 pounds and my goal was 140 pounds.
I am excited and nervous about this surgery because I have NO clue what to expect. All I do know is the surgeon says he has to preform this surgery 3x a month, so it is not just me, phew!
As far as my absorption is concerned, I have NO idea how much medications I absorb. I do know that regular tylenol does not even help me w/headaches, I need something a lil stronger.
All my vitamins are ok, I guess because I just had labworks drawn and all my levels were perfect.
My second surgery will probably be in July, I am not sure, I am hopefully getting my fallopian tubes repaired because I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies. I do not want to have to get invitro because alot of insurances will not pay for that.
I wish you ALL the best.
Blessings Robin
Topic: RE: 2 year check in - how are we all doing???
Unfortunately, I am not doing so well.
Surgery was Oct. 28, 2005
Starting wt: 309
Oct 28 wt: 294
Wt now: 220
Goal weight: 170
About 6 months out I had lost 87 pounds, and unfortunately I had a problem where I ate too much and did not CHEW well enough. Needless to say I pretty much ruined my surgery on accident. The opeing from my pouch to my sm. intestine got stretched, so now I get hungry more often because the food empties out too soon.
Well anyway, I am scheduled to have my anastomosis repaired and a ring put in so the problem does not happen again. My new surgery date is May 5th, 2008, my doctor says I will lose the rest of my wt. in about 4 months. So I am a lil excited, but I am bummed because I have to have another surgery.
My doctor is AWESOME and he stated that he has to do this same surgery about 3x a month so I am not the only one suffering from this problem. Phew!
If you know someone who has/had this problem please have them contact me, so I know what to expect. Thanks
Blessings Robin

Beginning weight 286
Goal weight (according to BMI chart) 150
Weight for the last year 144 (give or take a couple pounds in either direction)
Call me crazy or lucky, but living with my DS has been easier than I ever imagined it would be. I'm at the point now, where nobody can tell that I've had any wls when they watch me eat. I'm also getting in all of my protein via real food since I was 6 mos post op.
I've had a hernia repair over the summer, but no other complications. My nutritional levels are all good exept for my Vitamin D. I think I have it conquered, though. I'll know for sure next month on my checkup.
I'm wearing a size 6, sometimes 8. I've never been thin before since I was a little girl, so this is all new to me. I've got some skin issues that are easily camouflaged with my clothes. Overall, I'd say my general body looks 10 years older than I am, but my face looks younger. Funny huh? I just love living life and the fact that I'm not so insufferably hot all summer. I have developed a fetish for coats now, to assist me in my being cold all of the time.

I don't see you on the main board, but I've been raving about Lane Bryants Balconette bras. They're like an instant boob lift. You'll love them. They go down to a size 36C
Topic: Additional Health Problems
I have had to undergo an additional 11 surgeries - (some unrelated to my bariatric surgery in October 2005). After the surgeries, I have had problems healing and on a couple of occasions have contracted serious infections which I end up being hospitalized for several weeks or even a month or longer.
Surgeons have advised my immune system has been compromised by the bariatric surgery...
I have been told by doctors that my system now only absorbs 10-14% of intake... (meds., i.e. antibotics)
Anyone with similiar problems?
Topic: RE: Anyone want to do this with me?
I thought I was the only one!!!! My lowest was 127 last December (06), exactly 100lbs lost, and I've slowly crept up to 148! I'm freaking out! I've heard that's it's perfectly normal to regain 5-10 lbs, and I could accept that much of a gain, but hello- 21lbs is NOT acceptable! I've gotten back into my crappy eating habits, too, which is the reason I'm here in the first place!
Ok, so I'm going to check out that website and get to it! If I could just stop eating the crap I love so much I'd be fine! Story of my life...
Be back for an update in a couple of days!

It's been awhile since I've posted here. I'm ashamed to admit that I've gained 20lbs since my lowest weight. However, I'm here for support and to help encourage others. I'm not sure how often the Octoberites check the boards anymore but if you do, I'd like to invite you to do the 5 day pouch test to get back on track with our eating habits. I'm planning on starting it tomorrow. I figured Monday is a good day to start. The website is 5daypouchtest.com . I ended up doing the test last month and only made it through two days. Within two days, the scale moved down a few pounds, which was awesome!! BUT....It's very very hard to do this alone. Anyone care to join me??!!
I'm just tired of feeling fat again and I don't want the 20lbs to turn into 30!!!
I hope you all are doing well.
Topic: RE: re: Gained 11lbs
Lisa, don't worry about losing the 11 pounds in 4 days just for your surgeon. Focus on making small changes to your day-to-day habits that you can maintain long-term. Critically reevaluate what you're eating, if you're grazing, drinking with meals, etc., then work on dropping any bad habits that you've allowed to creep back in. Stick with your new exercise routine - again, think long-term. The exercise will help burn calories and improve your skeletal muscle, which in turn should bump up your metabolism a bit.
I think a lot of us begin to experience some regain after a couple years, but by being mindful about your day-to-day habits and remaining committed to staying healthy, you can drop the weight you've gained and maintain at a weight that's comfortable for you.
Good luck on your continuing journey -
Kellie
