Good luck Lisa, I know you can get back on track. This has been the hardest part of surgery. I don't know what I was thinking, but I had it in my mind I would have learned how to eat and not be on a diet the rest of my life. I am wrong. I set my alarm on my cell to remind me of when I need to eat and I have been sticking to it. That tells me, its not time to snack. Makes me more aware. I tried to journial but no luck. I have gained a little weight, but I stopped exercising and that caused a huge change in my body and I am 2 sizes bigger than my lowest weight. Hope you will recover completely. Bake problems seem to stay with you for a long time. Be strong Jane

Hi all, I am making a promise to myself that I will try to post something every copule of day or at least once a week. I have been so bad. I saw my doctor on 7/17/08 and i'm up almost 30lbs. I told him that I was in a train accident on 3/25/08 and haven't been able to go to the gym and I just found out that as a result of the accident I have 2 herniated discs in my lower back. He wasn't too worried, and said I should get back on track. I have been doing ok with my eating, trying to walk at lunch when I can, since I leave 1/2 hr early for physical therapy, I only take 1/2 hr lunch and can't do alot of walking in 1/2 hr but I try, and when I take my full hr I do walk. I may go to the gym that I belong to and maybe go swimming. When I see my neurourgeon on 8/28/08, I will know what my limitations are. Not much more to tell. I hope everyone is well. I PROMISE I will be back on during the week. hugs to all, Lisa J. in Mass

Well I got married, moved to Cleveland Ohio area in june..... and gained weight. I have found myself eating more and the wrong foods so it is time to get on track. Does anyone want to do this with me???? let me know because I am not sure I can do this one alone when my DH can eat kinda what h wants even though he shouldnt seeing thursday his doctor told him quit smoking and lose weight or he will probably be dead in 5 years because of his heart and on friday he had ALL his teeth pulled for his dentures to get fit in 6 weeks.... I know I am eating wrong because of stress but have to break the cycle. any sugestions besides the 5 day thing??? let me know!!!! Kim

Hey Violet, nice to hear from you. We all knew this wasn't a life long fix just as the say "a tool". Just so much easier with everything now. Still face the daily demon but life goes on and I pray this wonderful dream never ends. I never want to be 311lb ever again. Jane

It is good to see a familiar face on the board. I am glad to see you are doing well. I too can eat much more than before and am struggling with weight re-gain. I wonder how all the others that used to post on this sight are doing? Good luck to you and keep in touch.

HOPE EVERYONE IS WELL. I AM STILL DOING FINE. HAVE GAINED ABOUT 12 POUNDS BUT I HAVE STAYED THIS SAME WEIGHT FOR OVER A YEAR. I AM GOING TO SIT THOUGH MY DOCTORS 6 WEEKS OF CLASSES FOR THOSE NEW PATIENTS. I JUST WANT TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING NEW OUT THERE. ALSO OUR PROGRAM HAS MANY SUPPORT CLASSES THAT ARE FREE AND HAS AN EXERCISE PROGRAM WHERE YOU MEET ONE ON ONE WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER. THAT IS FREE BUT I AM SURE THERE HAS TO BE A CHARGE DOWN THE ROAD. I KNOW I STILL HAVE THIS DEADLY DISEASE. I CAN TELL IT IS STILL THERE, ALMOST LIKE IT IS IN REMISSION AND SCARED TO DEATH IT WILL COME BACK IN FULL FORCE. WE JUST MOVED, THIS IS OUR FIRST MOVE EVER AND ITS BEEN SO TOUGH. WE MOVED INTO MY PARENTS HOME. THEY BOTH PASSED, MY DAD LAST AUGUST. IT TOOK 6 MONTH TO CLEAN OUT THEIR HOUSE AND WE MOVED, NOW WE ARE GETTING OUR OLD HOUSE READY FOR THE MARKET. THIS IS THE WORST TIME TO TRY THIS. SO WITH ALL THIS STRESS I AM REALLY DOING GOOD. COULD MAKE BETTER FOOD CHOICES AND DRINK MORE WATER BUT ALL AND ALL I AM AWARE. JANE

Topic: RE: Strange outcome after surgery
That is definitely a strange outcome. I have no food aversions, either now or before surgery, so don't have any suggestions about what might have caused your aversion. Are you able to get in enough protein from the protein drinks and tuna? Do you have the same reaction to fish and shellfish? Have you done any research about how vegetarians get sufficient protein after WLS? Since you are so limited in terms of animal-based proteins, that information might give you some additional options to help meet your daily protein needs. My condolences on having this reaction to most animal-based proteins. I was a happy omnivore before surgery and still am - Good luck on your continuing journey - Kellie

Topic: Strange outcome after surgery
My surgery was Oct 2005 -- I still can't eat beef, ham or chicken. No eggs. My protein still comes from protein drinks or a bit of tuna once a week. I woke up from surgery and can hardly LOOK at red meat without throwing up. In the grocery store, I put my hand at the side of my face to walk down certain aisles so I don't have to look at the stuff. I was a big meat eater before the surgery. No more. It all looks like maimed animals to me. What happened??????? Sheryl Tilley 330/150/150
