Energy - anyone have it?

I'm wrestling with a substantial iron deficiency. In addition I have a protein loss - despite taking in 86 g on average. I feel not exactly tired but not at all energetic all the time. I kept hearing people say how much more energy they have after surgery and weight loss, but I haven't had that experience. The lack of energy is really making it hard for me to exercise like I should! Anybody else in the blahs like me? Know any ways to snap out of it - other than being patient and hoping the increased supplements do their job? Thanks! Illini Lady (down 102 pounds of 158 I'd like to lose)

I had sheer exhaustion for 4 1/2 months until I changed to specially-formulated vitamins/minerals ... Optisource from Walgreens & now I'm on Vista Vitamins with chelated minerals. I'm feelin' sooooooo much better now & am even exercising for the first time since surgery. Quality vitamins/minerals really did make a difference for me. If you have a protein loss, then your body has most probably used up some of your own muscle to maintain what it needed to heal you from surgery & to keep you alive & as healthy as possible. The body actually does canabilize itself (uses its own muscle protein) to keep itself alive ... Just look at the elderly if they are wasting away - that's what's happening. So, if this is happening to you, you'll feel awful as you won't have sufficient muscle to maintain the activities you need to. Try the gastric bypass formulated supplements like I mentioned in the beginning. &, once you find out how to overcome the protein loss, then you really need to start a muscle building exercise program to replace what you have lost to regain your strength. You've lost an amazing amount of weight & that in itself will tend to tire you even though it's also good for you, if you know what I mean ... Just because of the massive changes your body has to go through with the weight losses.

Illini-- I have my days when I am just so darn tired and I don't want to do s*!t but I am constantly making sure that no matter what I continue to take my vitamins and drink my protein supplements. I think the reason you are feeling this way is because you are not getting in near the amount of calories that you onece were before surgery, and that puts your body in total shock. If you continue to feel this way, I would definitley tell your surgeons office and see what they can prescribe to make you feel better. But dont give up, you are doing soooo wonderful and congrats on the weightloss.... finda nessy
