Help cant break the plateau!
Hi All
I have been back on the plateau diet and still cant lose a pound. Yesterday was my 6 month anniversary. I'm really getting depressed. I know Ive had a lot of stress but I'm sure everyone has had some stress. I go to thearpy every week. I have been doing exercise that does not involve my back. Do we even lose weight the second 6 months? Or is it over? Any advice is welcome? Have a nice day everyone!
Sincerely Karen K.
Karen...don't worry about the plateau...you are losing inches i'm sure...last month I only 3 lost pounds but lost more inches, then I did the previous month losing 9 pounds...I was on the plateau buster diet and lost about 4 pounds...or was it going to happen anyway? who knows...there have been some posts about diet...I am not going to go that route...I am going to jus****ch what I eat...up the protein and water and do the right thing...I don't have that much more to lose, so I'm sure it will slow down...so far this month only about 3 pounds down...but heck better then going up, right...I am going to stick to the routine and just wait it out......if you use the pouchie right, it will come off....slower if you don't have that much to lose.....

It looks like we are all stopping our weight loss at the same time. I have been 185 for almost 2 weeks now. I have not dropped an ounce. I am hoping it moves soon cause summer is right around the corner.
It's not like I am not grateful for what I have already lost, I would just like to be smaller for summer!!

I'M IN THE SAME BOAT, MS KAREN ... AFTER THE 1st 60 #s, I HIT A BRICK WALL & WAS READY TO TEAR MY HAIR OUT (WHAT'S LEFT AFTER IT FALLING OUT! ) ANYWAY, I'M UP TO ABOUT 12 WEEKS OF STALLING/SLOWWWWWWWWW LOSING & HAVE ONLY LOST ANOTHER 7 POUNDS FOR 67 TOTAL.
I STARTED THE PLATEAU DIET & IT TOOK ME ABOUT 4 DAYS TO SEE ANY MOVEMENT DOWNWARDS ... I EVEN GAINED WEIGHT THE 2nd DAY ... BUT, THEN I HAD TO QUIT IT AS I WENT ON A TRIP & WAS EATING IN RESTUARANTS.
DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SUGGEST EXCEPT TO KINDA BALANCE IT WITH THE FACT THAT EVEN AS LONG AS THIS HAS BEEN, I HAVE NOT, NOT, NOT GAINED ANY WEIGHT BACK. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED PRE-OP, I WOULD HAVE ALREADY REGAINED MOST OF THAT 67 #s BACK BY NOW. SO, THIS IS A POSITIVE FOR US!
NOT TO BE RUDE, BUT ARE YOU OLDER? I AM 53 & I'VE NOTICED THAT SOME OF THOSE HITTING THESE PROBLEMS ARE IN THEIR 50s & ABOVE. OR, MAYBE I JUST "WANT" TO NOTICE THAT TO FEEL LIKE I HAVE AN ANSWER.
NO, IT'S NOT OVER AT 6 MONTHS ALTHOUGH IT GETS HARDER & SLOWER ... THE 1st YEAR IS WHERE YOU LOSE THE GREAT MAJORITY OF YOUR WEIGHT ... BUT, YOU STILL LOSE UPWARDS OF 18 MONTHS OUT.
STICK WITH THE RULES, MS KAREN ... & BE PROUD OF EVERY POUND! REMEMBER, OUR HEALTH HAS IMPROVED AS WELL, SO IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT POUNDS LOST EVEN THOUGH THAT'S WHAT WE REALLY LOOK AT.
Hi Lady D. I think my age is a factor. I'm 40 years old. Iv'e given birth to 4 children. 3 are living. I was borderline diabetic before surgery. Also I quit smoking the year before. Dr says metabolism slows down by 7 percent when you quit smoking. My Mother says metabolism slows down in your 40s and then again in your 50s. Some one should take a pole and see if our biggest losers are in their 20s and 30s. I think we will have to exercise alot more than the younger ones. Plus I'm on meds that I think are keeping weight on. I'm going to Dr. to start weaning myself off some of these medications. I want to thank everyone for your responses! You all inspire me every day to drink my water, get in my protein, and exercise! Thanks again kk.
I think I am stalling too. I haven't hit a plateau yet, so I guess I'm do. Tomorrow is my official weigh day but today the scale said 166.8 and last Friday it was 166.4. So, I probably won't lose anything this week. I'm also on my period, so that may have something to do with it. It really sucks, though. I had so much fun getting on that scale and seeing it drop every time. But, I'm NOT done losing. I will fight for my last 36 lbs.

Hi... all I am staying at 222/223 and not moving...so I guess it will be a three or four pound loss this month...I want to lose another 35 pounds...and I guess it will be very hard and a long hard road......but I am going to take it pound for pound... I feel great, my clothes are falling off...so it will happen....not as fast as I want, but it will happen...I really want a normal BMI...will it happen I hope so......just stick it out and we can do this... I TALKED WITH MY SURGEON AGAIN & HE EMPHASIZED THAT THOSE OF US WITH A FEW MORE YEARS ON US ARE MORE LIKELY TO LOSE VERY, VERY SLOWLY AFTER THE INITIAL DROP IN WEIGHT. MINE SLOWED CONSIDERABLY AFTER THE 1st 60 #s (I'M NOW AT 67 #s) SO, I'VE DECIDED TO R-E-L-A-X & BEGIN ENJOYING MY WLS LIFESTYLE INSTEAD OF BEING SO FOCUSED ON EVERY POUND LOST & DRIVING MYSELF CRAZY. AT LEAST I KNOW I'M NOT DOING SOMETHING WRONG; THIS IS JUST THE WAY MY BODY LOSES ... BUT, LIKE YOU SAID MR DENNIS, IT'LL BE HARD & LONG BUT WE WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT. WE HAVE 12-18 MONTHS FOR LOSSES & ARE ONLY AT ABOUT 6 MONTHS RIGHT NOW. I'M GOING TO CONTINUE TO WEIGH EVERY MORNING BECAUSE THAT KEEPS ME HONEST & ACCOUNTABLE. BUT, I'M GOING TO JUST MAKE GOOD CHOICES & WHEN MY BODY IS READY, IT WILL DROP THE WEIGHT.
I WALKED IN A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE THE OTHER NIGHT & THEY ALL SAID ... "WOWOWOWOW, YOU LOOK GREAT" & I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT I DON'T LOOK LIKE MY POSTING PICTURE ANYMORE ... I FEEL SOOOO MUCH BETTER & HAVE A LOT MORE ENERGY ... MY HEALTH HAS IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY, SO I'M FOCUSING ON LIVING EACH DAY TO THE FULLEST. THE WEIGHT WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF BECAUSE I'M MAKING HEALTHY, WISE CHOICES.
GOD BLESS YOU DAWN & NICK
