Frustrated....
Ok so as you all know I did the plateau buster diet and went from 221 to 214 which is nothing to complain about... dont get me wrong. Well this last week after I finished the diet I went back to my regular sort of routine where I get in mostly protien but also eat fruit, veggies, and a few carbs. Also Yes I had a couple tomato beers this weekend. But please explain to me why I am back to 220 this morning. I am no there is no way I am consuming enough calories to gain weight. It just isnt possible so can someone explain why its happening. UHHHH im just frustrated and want to say screw it and go eat all the candy, cookies, chips and CRAP I can find. Which I know is the worst thing possible to do but seriously I mean even a normal person eating twice as much as I do wouldnt gain any weight. Oh well i guess I should just be happy that I have come this far and lost this much. I would be happy if I had just stayed where I was but going back up to what I was before the buster diet makes no sense. If any one has any suggestions why this is happening let me know. Otherwise just some words of encouragement would be great.
Thanks
Jenn
Calm the fliggin down...I am on the 7th. day and went out for Sushi last night...up 1 pound 4oz...ok...from the water...I think it might be water weight with you...from the beer, salt...are you drinking the water? and not eating more carbs then you should...someone said this could be a quick fix???hmmm maybe they are right? I'm going to stay on it for the 10 days and then very slowly start adding only the good carbs...fruit, veggie...and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO beer...have only tried one glass of wine...and don't want to go thee at all for at least a year, when all the weight is off...you will be fine...just drink more water...to flush out...the salt??? take care and happy... Jennifer,
I don't know if this will hel*****t, But this surgery was made to change your life not continue to "diet" I have cut out my trigger things such as pepsi and sweet tea. I eat regular food just in much smaller portions. I have lost 80 pounds since surgery. My weightloss has been slower but I have never really hit what I would say was a platue I don't feel I allow myself a treat now and again and don't feel deprived of anything. I feel like if I was having the surgery "diets" have failed me which is true. Thats why I says eat normal in moderation if I try dieting it will also fail. You know what things are really bad for you.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I FOUND THE 1st TIME AROUND ON THE PLATEAU BUSTER DIET, MS RACHEL ... THAT IT WAS REMINDING ME TO FOCUS ON THE BASICS ... FLUIDS, FLUIDS, FLUIDS ... PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN ... SMALL PORTIONS & EXERCISE ... &&&, KEEP AWAY FROM THE NO-NOs. I DIDN'T LOSE, EVEN GAINED IN THE BEGINNING, THEN I STARTED TO LOSE ON THE PLATEAU BUSTER ... SO, IT RE-TAUGHT ME THAT EVEN THOUGH I THOUGHT I WAS DOING OK BEFORE, I HAD TO BE INGESTING TOO MANY CARBS, OR NOT ENOUGH OF THE RIGHT THINGS. I HAD TO STOP THE MORE SEVERE EATING PATTERN OF THE PLATEAU BUSTER WHILE ON MY TRIP, BUT I STILL PURPOSELY MADE GOOD DECISIONS & DIDN'T GAIN AN OUNCE.
SO, THAT'S REALLY THE KEY ... GOOD DECISIONS ALL THE TIME!
Ditto on what Dennis, Marcey, and Rachael has said. We are in this thing to help us change our old bad habits. We have been given a "tool" to help us. It's not the magic cure, it's a tool. We all have to want to change and be better for it. Like Dennis said noooooooooo beer, the carbonation will stretch out your cute little stomach pouch. Don't give up Jennifer, we are not quiters "TO THE TOP WE'LL ENDEVOR, OCT. 05 ers WILL LIVE FOREVER." HOOWAH!!!........Dean........
I haven't tried the plateau buster yet, haven't needed to, but planned to if I stall. I think we are programmed to think we constantly need these diets. I was watching informercials last night and thinking "Oh, I should get that, or that." I don't need that stuff anymore. Diet pills are the same. I hear of a new one and think I should try it. Rachel made me see that the plateau buster is another gimmick like the rest of those. We don't need it. Just make healthy choices EVERY day and exercise and let the tool do what it does.

Hi Hon,
I am not a believer in "plateau busting diets" or much any other "diet" for that matter because to me "diet" is something temporary that I did my whole life for a "little while" in the hopes that I would drop weight quickly. And once I went back to eating "normal", the weight always came back on. Usually what happened was that I lost a lot of water and water comes back VERY FAST!
I was stalled for 6 weeks and wouldn't do any busting, anything. I refuse to torture myself anymore with all these rules and regulations of yet another diet. I want to live a somewhat "normal" life from here on and not worry about everything I put in my mouth. Yes, I want to get enough protein and eat healthy, as much as possible, but no more short term "diets"
This is for life and for keeps!!
My stall broke last week, on it's own, and I've lost 10 lbs since then.
I think your body just needed to adjust. Give it time and treat it well, be gentle!
HUGS,
Vi
Violet,
I am glad to hear that your stall has passed. I too have been the same weight for 5 weeks and last week I have finally dropped 2 pounds with no special diet changes.
As hard as it may seem, our WLS isn't that quick fix to our weigh issues. It is a tool to be used in combination to healthy food selections and consistent physical activity. It isn't easy. It is important that our daily food choices with keep us healthy. I also believe that the no no items like beer should only be consumed in moderation. Remember that for every alocohol beverage consumed your body requires 2 additional servings of water for balance.
Take your time with the weightloss. We should be transforming into a "New Lifestyle" not passing through a new diet.
