Dinner ideas?
I have 3 young kids and am trying to cook things that I can eat along with them, I'm tired of making separate meals. Now, that hubby is going to be having surgery, I want to have things that are healthy and enjoyable for all of us. Any ideas? Side dishes? The kids like Mac & Cheese, fried potatoes, and corn - all things that I need to stay away from. Thanks!

YOUR KIDS DON'T NEED MAC & CHEESE, FRIED POTAOES & CORN ALL THE TIME, MS MARCIA ... OR, THEY WILL FIND THEMSLEVES IN THE OBESE LIFESTYLE JUST LIKE WE DID. START ADDING HEALTHY VEGES TO THEIR PLATES IN SMALL PORTIONS & MAKE THE UNHEALTHY CHOICE PORTIONS SMALLER UNTIL YOU ARE GIVING THEM MORE & MORE HEALTHY CHOICES. ONE TRICK IS TO MIX THINGS LIKE GREEN BEANS OR OTHER VEGES IN WITH THE MACARONI & CHEESE OR THE FRIED POTATOES OR CORN. THAT WAY, YOUR KIDS WILL BEGIN TO GET A "TASTE" FOR THE GOOD VEGES ALONG WITH WHAT THEY LIKE NOW. ALSO, DRIBBLING SOME CHEESE OVER GOOD VEGES MASKS THE FLAVOR UNTIL THEY GROW ACCUSTOMED TO THE GOOD VEGE FLAVORS.
MAKE IT A BIG GAME OF HELPING MOMMY & DADDY TO EAT GOOD & LOSE WEIGHT ... MAKE THEM A PART OF YOUR LIFESTYLE & WEIGHT LOSS ... LIKE THEY COULD READ THE SCALES FOR YOU & YOU COULD HAVE A CHART WHERE YOU MARK YOU WEIGHT & PASTE PICTURES OF HEALTHY MEALS NEXT TO YOUR WEIGHT LOSS NUMBERS. THEN YOU BRAG ABOUT HOW EATING YOUR VEGES IS HELPING YOU & DADDY & HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF THEM FOR HELPING YOU BY EATING THOSE VEGES RIGHT ALONG WITH YOU.
SEVERAL OF THE LADIES SAID THAT THEIR CHILDREN & SPOUSES/BOY & GIRLFRIENDS ARE LOSING RIGHT ALONG WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE CHANGED WHAT THEY COOK & THEIR FAMILY'S TASTES HAVE CHANGED AUTOMATICALLY. DON'T FORGET THAT THERE ARE S-F TREATS OUT THERE BY THE GAZILLIONS, SO A LITTLE "AFTER WE EAT OUR HEALTHY MEAL ... WE'RE HAVING DESSERT" (SF, OF COURSE) GOES A LONG WAY IN CHANGING THEIR MINDS!
