Daily calories and exercise

Some weeks, it seems the more I exercise, the less I lose! I usually get between 800-1000 calories per day, 60-80 grams of protein and at least 64 oz. of water, usually more. When I workout, I usually spend 40 minutes doing cardio (elliptical trainer and/or recumbent bike) and the machines will indicate that I've burned between 350-450 calories. On some days, I do 30 minutes of cardio and lift weights for upper and lower body. Am trying to figure out whether I may actually lose better if I increase my calories by 100-200 calories (from protein) on the days when I work out. Would appreciate any thoughts or insight that you can offer. Thanks. Kellie Lap RNY 10/25/2005 396/288/165

Kellie, You are doing an awesome job with you eating, drinking and excercise. Keep up the good work. I know for myself, if I drop below 1000 calories/day, it is a certain stall on my weight. Once in a great while, I can get 1100 in. I stopped concerning myself with getting too many calories (since I figured out that eating to little made me plateau), but I concentrate on high protein, low carbs and fat. And when my weight loss slows, I increase my work out to get things going again. Even with doing everything 100% right, there will be periods when we stop losing for awhile, while our bodies catch up. Keep up the good work. Your body is appreciating it!
