Question for all?
What I am wondering is everyone eating like they are supposed to? Let's be honest I'm really not. I try but I do have treats to but i'm satisfied with a small amount. I have been able to eat better since the frothing stage has passed and I do eat carbs but in moderation I know I don't get enough protein but it is really hard to do my weightloss has been slow but steady so i'm not complaining at all just curious about everyone else.

hi marcey, i had my surgery the same day you did,i weighed 242lbs,i now weigh 172lbs and i thought i was cheating when i would have crackers and pb,well i ask my doc and he said you didn't have this surgery to exclude the food but to have it in moderation. Well i try and get my protein in,somedays i don't,somedays i do, im still learning and i am new at this.Gettin the surgery was the easy part ,now we have to kick it up a nouch..............................vickie r.
I still don't like most meats but my love for chocolate never disappeared . Friday at work I had a thin mint girl scout cookie and a tablespoon of mint chocolate chip ice cream. I also had about 4 of those Andes mints (the little ones). That was probably pushing it, but neither of them bothered me but give me an egg or a piece of chicken or beef and I'll almost definitely not be able to eat it!
It drives me crazy that I want sweets so much sometimes even when I can't eat a lot of regular stuff! The only good thing is that I know if I eat too much of anything sweet, it'll make my stomach upset, so I avoid it. HOWEVER for the past week I HAVE had something small and sweet daily! I just got my period so hopefully that urge will pass now!
As for protein, I start and end my day with a Dymatize Elite Whey Mint Chocolate chip shake so at least I know I get my 60 grams a day!
I'm seeing a dietician tomorrow and I'm hoping she'll give me ideas on what I might be able to eat that good in protein!

Hi.. I eat just about everything...but small amounts...yes I have some sweets but not like before...like a few cookies or candies...vs. a whole box...I try and stay with the sugar free stuff...but I do treat myself once in a while...we are trying to make good choices....and we are all learning.......some stuff works...some stuff does not...I start my day with a protein drink...and end my day with a protein drink...and sometimes mid-day I will have a Cosco protein bar that has 30 grams of protein...and tastes like a brownie...not bad at all...so we are doing it...I think the last few pounds will be the hardest, and we have to pu**** up a notch or two...it is raining cats and dogs in California... For the most part, I eat like I'm supposed to. I get in at least 60 grams of protein per day, mostly through food sources. If I get to mid-afternoon and realize I'm not going to hit 60 grams, I'll have a protein bar to get in another 10-15 grams.
Regarding sugar, I had about 4 Christmas cookies in December and a small piece of my Mom's fruitcake. (Yes, some people really like fruitcake!) Other than that, I've been sticking with lower-calorie (60 calories or less) sugar-free treats. Since I got accustomed to not having sugar, I find the sugar-free stuff very satisfying. Plus, sugar is a trigger for me - having some makes me want more, more, more, so I try not to trigger myself.
As far as carbs go, my nut never said they aren't allowed. I do try to eat good, complex carbs, but do sometimes have crackers, a small piece of crusty French bread, etc. I also try to limits the inclusion of carbs to 2 meals a day (maybe high-fiber/high-protein cereal for breakfast, a slice of whole-wheat Brownberry toast for lunch w/ egg salad, seafood salad, etc.). I don't allow myself to snack on carbs - those calories add up way to fast. As for pasta, rice, etc., I eat those things, but only occasionally and in real moderation.
So for now, this is my course. I'm planning to do my best to stay the course since doing so will help me reach my goal - being a healthier, more active person!

I definately try to eat right. I make sure to get all my protein and H2O. I try to get some veggie and fruit every day. But, I do have treats now and then too. The ladies at my weight loss clinic say that is a no no. NEVER EVER have sugar again. I can't do that and what I am doing is working for me, so I don't feel so bad about it. I put whipped cream in my sugar free hot chocolate and sometimes in my protein shakes. I'm trying to think of other bad things I do... Oh, the other night hubby came in with a king size pack of resee cups (those are my favorite!), he seems to think I have will power made of steel, I had one and gave the other 3 to the kids. I think I do pretty good.
