Hi Denny, My regular physician told me when my bloodwork came back that i needed fish oil with Omega 3. Well that pill is huge! So i asked my surgeon and he said it would be much better for me to take flax seed or flax seed oil because its loaded in omega 3. Also keeps me regular

My surgeon had me start taking it at my 3-month visit. I take 1 T. each morning and at night. I tried the flaxseed, but I don't eat oatmeal, and I didn't like the taste it added to yogurt, pudding, etc. I just find it easier to add to my shakes.

Dennis, I was instructed by my doc and my nutritionist to take 1T x 2/day since my skin is so dry. I take a liquid fiber for the regularity issues...the flax helps keep my skin from being so flaky. I've also noticed a faster lbs. loss since I added the oil (nut. says it pulled my body out of starvation mode by adding "good fats", due to my low fat food diet). I'd call your doc tomorrow and ask if you're worried. -Laura

Dennis, I have been thinking about adding flax seed oil to my daily routine as well. Let me know if you call your doc what they say. I think I might pick some up on my lunch today.

Dennis, I have been taking flax seed oil and am tolerating it just fine. My doctor suggested that I take it to keep things "moving" because I had been having a severe problem with I have read on other member's profiles that ground flax seed is much better for you than flax seed oil, but the ground seed gives me so much gas and pain that I can't take it. I take 1 softgel in the morning and 1 at night. I honestly think she might be confused that the oil is dangerous as opposed to not the most preferable form. I don't think you're doing yourself harm, Dennis. Call your doctor to find out if he really meant 'NO FLAX SEED OIL' - and why. We all want to know, because a lot of us are taking it. Cheryl

My surgeon told me to take two tablespoons of the oil a day. I use Barleans. I actually drink it with just a little bit of water. It not only helps things to "regulate", it can also help with hair loss and dry skin. I have been taking it since about one month out. Wether this has anything to do with it or not...I haven't lost any hair and I also haven't had any plateaus...
