???what is going on with the GALLBLADDER SURGERY?
hi...I have noticed that 3 or 4 of our October peeps are having gallbladder problems...what the friggin is going on? My doctor in California has me on a anti Gallbladder pill for 6 months? most of the people on the California board also take it...it is called Ursodol Cap.300mg. twice a day for 6 months...starting the first month after surgery...the pills only work for 6 months and then they stop doing whatever they do? for anyone thinking of this surgery, check out the medicine before...so far, knock on wood, no problems with my gallbladder... Dennis
Wow, I didn't know there was a pill. Fortunately, I had to have mine removed 10 years ago, so I don't have to worry about that. The docs out here check your gallbladder for stones prior to WLS, because the rapid weight loss can cause normally unactive stones to become bothersome. If they find that you have stones, they will remove your GB at the same time as surgery.

My surgeon removed my gallbladder when he did my WLS. He said that it was good preventive medicine because in his experience he has found that he has had to remove the gallbladders of his patients 3 to 6 months after their WLS. I'm glad mine is already gone. I actually had some "sludge" in mine -- so it would have had to come out anyway.
I hope those pills do what they're supposed to, Dennis. We don't want any more of our Octoberites having any more surgeries!

Hi Dennis Mine was fine prior to surgery my ultrasound was negative. Then at 3 months I had two really bad episodes of dry heaves. No reason, happened about an hour after I ate. So they sent me for an ultrasound and now I have sludge. My surgeon said mine is probably going bad but I have opted to wait. I have had 1 more spell but the pain hasn't been that bad. I just wanted to make sure I was healed for the first surgery. The past 6 weeks I have been fine.
