Which elliptical machine for the house?

Ok the elliptical machine I was getting by ProForm had some really bad reviews so now I'm looking into an alternative. I love the one I use at the gym, but I can't pay $2000-$3000 for one of those babies! New Balance has some by Fitness Quest which are reasonable, but I've not heard great things about the Fitness Quest quality either!! Soooo... those of you who purchased one for the house, which brand did you get and how sturdy is it? I'd like to get something that will last and I tried some out this weekend that were way too flimsy! I guess I'm going to have to spend $500-$600 to get something decent (hopefully on a payment plan!) so please tell me which one you have and if you recommend it! Thanks!

Hi Vi!! We bought the New Balance 9.0e a little over a year ago and love it. My hubby and I needed a very sturday machine that accomodated his 6 foot frame and my stubby 5 foot frame with stubby legs....LOL We bought it at Sports Authority for about $1000-1100. Hope that helps!! Shelly

That definitely helps! I decided to get the lower model at $600. Besides being less $$ it was smaller and since I plan to move this summer, I wanted to make sure I didn't get something that I might not have room for later. https://www.newbalancefitness.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=nb/itemdetl.html?item=NBP01055-1 Thanks! That one looks good too!! I didn't see it when we were out shopping for them..I do have to say that ours is HUGE as far as the footprint space it takes up, but I love it!! Good luck with your new machine!! Congrats!! Shelly

Violet, I also bought a New Balance 9.0e about 18mths ago and LOVE it. I spent around $1100.00 for it and it was rated very well by consumer reports. My mother just purchased her on New Balance 9.0e and is loving it as well. Check the internet, you might come up with a place that will finance it for you. Good luck, Jeanna

Thanks for the advice. I read good things about them so I decided to get the lower end model (5.5) since it was in my price range and it was a bit more compact! Sounds like they are well made! Vi https://www.newbalancefitness.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=nb/itemdetl.html?item=NBP01055-1
