Ladies Only: Suffering Major PMS

Hi Girls--quick question: Have you been experiencing worse PMS since surgery and/or heavier bleeding? I used to take an herbal supplement for PMS/female balance but stopped about 1 month pre-op and haven't taken it since. Every month I feel more and more moody and the time frame of bleeding gets longer--anyone having the same problem and/or find a solution? I'm not blaming WLS--just wondering if anyone has any helpful thoughts to get back in balance (since pills are no longer an option)? Thanks! -Laura

I agree--so glad that I am not alone. The bleeding goes on for days and days now (not normal for me pre-op) and tylenol doesn't even touch the kicked-by-a-soccer-ball-in-the-gut feeling. If I find anything to help, I'll post. Hoping to find some teas or some other supplement to help. Thanks for the reply!

I am not trying to be scary...but.... I had all the same issues after surgery. the surgeon kept telling me that it was just changes from the trauma of surgery ect...which is usually true for most people. I went to my pcp and talked to her about it just to be safe and we too tried the pill to straighten things out. It did not work. I ended up seeing my gyno and he found that my left ovary was the size of a golf ball and filled with cysts. I just had a hysterectomy on Tuesday to remedy the problem. Please have yourself checked to rule out anything unusual. Best wishes and i hope you feel better soon. Missy

I've also had the bag PMS and the heavy bleeding since surgery and I read on the main message board that it's quite common after WLS. Apparently your fat cells also store a lot of estrogen which is released along with the rapid weight loss. I tried SAM-e to get my moods in control (just chop them up as I got the pill stuck for a whole day!) and I know evening prime rose oil and flax seed will also help. I just have a hard time finding supplements that are small enough now. I have a BIG fear of having another pill get stuck! You can put flax seed oil in your protein shake though! It also helps with hair loss. Vi
