surgery done 10/05/05.was 297lbs. today 237lbs. have only lost this same 60lbs for atleast a month. getting very discouraged. but I did find out that the southbeach meal replacement bars that my nutritionist recommended are not good for this diet. they are very high in total carbs. I didn't pay attention to it before today simply because she is a licensed nutritionist. So I've been taking in all theses extra carbs and losing nothing. Well today was the last day for that. Now I hope I can get out of this plateau.Pray for me...............................Shana

Hi Shana, I know how you feel. I just came off of a month long plateau. I increased my protein, started exercising and took in more water (I was only getting in 16 oz. a day). But I do eat the South Beach High Protein Cereal Bars and I started them the same time as when I started with the increase in protein, water and exercise. In the past 10 days I've lost 11 lbs. I'm not sure about the meal replacement bars but the high protein cereal bars don't seem to be a problem, for me anyway. I've also incorporated the slim fast high protein bars. But I did change my FF Lactaid Milk with the Hood Carb Countdown FF Milk and I think that has made a difference also. It's funny how, in spite of the surgery, it is still a learning process on how to shed the pounds. A lot of what I do now is because of suggestions from others, cause God knows that I can't figure this out all on my own. Hang in there. Hugs, Loretta

Hi Shana, I don't think the South Beach Bars are the problem. I've also been a slow loser with long stalls. My surgery was on 10/12 and I've lost 65 pounds. Now that I've excersing the pounds are coming off faster. I lost 18 pounds last month. I don't know how old you are but I'm 46 and I think age might be a factor. Not to say I'm so old but there are a lot of people on the board who are losing a lot faster and they are younger so that may be some of it.

That's wonderful. I'm 37 and I consider myself very active. (atleast compared to how I used to be) I'm a nurse and I work in a psychiatric hospital. Not really a sit down job. I also work part time in a nursing home. Well, you could be right. I did the same when I was heavier. May I could pick up on my work out routine. Okay, now you've got me thinking. Thanks............................Shana

I know how you feel. I just ended a 6 week plateau where I gained and lost the same 2 pounds for well over a month. It was so discouraging but I called the nutritionist at the weight loss surgery center who suggested I go on the "protein train" for 3 days to jump start my system and try cut out the extra carbs from now on. I did the protein train and lost 5 pounds after 6 WHOLE WEEKS!!!! I basically just had protein shakes, ate cheese and lean meat, salads bu****ched the dressing and upped my water and it worked. If you would like to know more about how I ate and am still eating, by the way please email me. This will pass even though it feels like it never will. I'll keep you in my prayers and thoughts.
