Hi there, I am having my hysterectomy on Tuesday...oddly enough I feel more scared about this surgery than I did for my WLS. Has anyone here had one? What was it like? How was your recovery? Anything you can share would be appreciated...I am a little freaked out right now. Thanks for reading this, Missy

Hi Missy, I had a hysterectomy in 2000 (I was 40) and had it done vaginally. If I wouldn't have had an alergic reaction to the epidural, it would have been a breeze. After the first 24 hours of benedryl and throwing up, I did great. Didn't even feel like I had surgery. Went shopping 2 days after I got home. Hope everything goes well with you and you heal fast. For me, it was the 2nd best thing I ever did, the 1st being WLS!!! Later, Nancy

Thank you Nancy!!! That is very reassuring! I'm not allergic to anything so I hope everything goes well for me too! Thank you again, Missy

Hi Missy~ Good luck on your hysterectomy on Tuesday! I know it's a scary thing. I had mine two years ago and I had a bikini cut ..(not vaginally) and they took everything! It was strange because I bounced back from that surgery quickly. I'm not gonna lie..it did hurt but I think that I would compare the degree of pain with the hysterectomy similar to this one. Just make sure you get up and moving right away..I was up the same day walking the halls. On the ride home, just get a good pillow to hold against you for the bumps in the road (I know I felt everyone of them). Again, good luck!

Hey Missy, I had a partial one (bikini cut) in 2003. I was 35. It was no different than the WLS for me as far as being sore. I recovered very well and went back to work in 2 weeks at my desk job. I haven't had any regrets about it and not having that dreaded time of the month is the BEST! Lori 276/208/140

I had my done at the same time of my WLS, and done Lap. If I wasn't told I had it done, I wouldn't have known it! No problems at all. Good luck! Karen
