What kind of exercise does everyone do?
We all know it is important so what kind of exercise is everyone doing?
I am committing to go to the gym 3 times per week (I'd like to go 4x's but have not yet). I am up to 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical trainer...I personally like the X-training program on level 5 right now. I also do about 15-20 minutes of weight training, lower weight, lots of reps. I do lower body one visit, shoulders and chest another visit and total body (arms & legs) the 3rd visit.
I do try to take the stairs, at least down as I work on the 15th floor. I take the elevator to the 9th floor, then get in the stairs from 9 to 4. I feel better, but trying to kick the lazy habits. You know what I mean.

Hi Mike,
I only just started back at the gym this week. I hadn't gone since before Christmas. Talk about lazy! I've been doing the treadmill for 25 minutes. I have noticed that each day it gets better as far as distance. I am trying so hard to get a mile in at 15 minutes. It will come in time. Tomorrow I will start with the weights and weight machines that the personal trainer had instructed me on before the new year. After a few weeks of this, I'm going to give the ellipitical machine a go. I need to build up my stamina. I like your idea of doing certain machines on certain days. I think I may give that a go.
One thing I do get a lot of are the stairs. I live in a home that has 3 levels. Each level has 16 steps and they are steep. I must go up and down them each about 10 times a day. Most times just one level but sometimes its both and that is 32 steep steps up. It's all good!

Mike,
I just joined the health club last month. I go 6 days a week. I love it. I'm doing 1 hour of cardio. I do 30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes on the treadmill. I have a personal trainer that's going to help me with weights on Monday. I just want to add in toning on my legs and arms for now.
You are doing great on the elliptical machine! I got on that thing for 3 minutes and thought I was going to have a heart attack

Hi Mike I do that womans thing Curves.
Been going since week 4. I go 3-4 times a week. I love it and the inches
are just dropping off. I am committed for one year. I think I'll get bored with it before my time is up. I wish I could afford the YMCA also. I was not active at all before my surgery and I swear I can do anything now. Feel great and I think the exercise is a big part of my energy.

Mike, I go to the gym 6 days a week. I always vary what I do, everyday some cardio and either arms or leg weights. I get in each set 3 times a week. Yesterday I did 35 min on the elliptical and 20 min on the treadmill. It takes me about 30 min to do the weights for my legs and back.

Hi Mike,
I go to the gym every weekday. Three days a week I have a Stretch and Tone class, but we do lots of stuff in it. Today was Stepping and arm work. Other days we do the Fit Ball and stretches. We do crunches on the Fit Ball.
The other two days, I'm sort of on my own. I've been walking the treadmill for 20 minutes at a pace of 4.5 mph. I tried the elliptical last week, but I need to be a little more coordinated. It really tired out my quad muscles, too.
On the weekends, I walk a mile around my lake, weather permitting. I try to do Walk Away the Pounds, the one mile tape.
I am very lucky that I work for the Federal Government. As a civilian employee, I get to use the Marine Corps gym and all the equipment for free. They share the cost with me in time. They give me 30 minutes and I donate my lunch 30 minutes. It's a very good thing.

I went last night...45 minutes on the ellipitical and really pushed myself to sweat.....then it was the lower body workout....leg extensions, leg lifts, leg curls, and then of course I always do lower back and crunches every time I am there.
Frustrated the scale has not moved in 2-3 weeks but I understand my body is converting fat to muscle, clothes do fit better and I feel good...this plateau will pass it's just frustrating
Thanks for all the responses...let's keep up the dialog and keep each other motivated on exercize, it is the only way we are going to prevent us from ballooning back up in a year or two.

Elliptical trainer 4-5 times per week, 35-40 minutes per session. Weights for both upper and lower body 2-3 times per week. Single set on the weights during the week (I go after work and w/ cardio, weights and stretching am spending about 2 hours at the gym). Do at least one day at the gym on the weekend, doing both cardio and weights. On weekend day, I do multiple sets on weights since time isn't such an issue. Started this routine on January 2nd and it's made a huge difference in my energy level. Has also kept my weight loss going along at a nice steady pace.
