Hi everybody! I had surgery on Oct. 28th. I thought I was doing pretty good -- now down 56 pounds. I had my 3 month checkup yesterday and my surgeon said I should have been down 80 by now. So I have to kick up the exercise another notch. I thought 56 was great - now not so sure. Sheryl

Hi Sheryl~ I think you are doing great! Just remember this~everybody is different and their body will lose weight at different paces. 56 lbs down is awesome and don't let him tell you otherwise

Personally I think any surgeon who would say that is a quack!! If you read the message boards all over OH you'll see that the 3 month losses vary from 40+ lbs and up. I think any doctor who puts that kind of pressure on his patient is an A$$ (pardon my french)! I think you are doing great. Ignore that quack!

Dont' sweat it too much. I have lost exactly 40 in 3 months (53 if I include my pre-op diet.) According to your doc, I'm only half of what I should be. Yikes! My surgeon doesn't do a 3 month visit, so I don't know what he would say about it. I did see the nutritionist about 6 weeks ago and she said my eating is on-track. I guess I'm just a slow loser. I wouldn't worry if you are losing consistenly. I haven't had more than 4 days go by without losing something. I lost 9 pounds in month 2, but 11 in month 3 - I would be satisfied if I could maintain roughly 10 pounds a month. That would have me to goal before my year is up. Be happy for the 56 - I think it's great! Brenda 274/221/145

Hi Sheryl, I think by all standards you are right in there with most of us. When I went to my Doctor for my 3 month, I was down 62 and he said they like to see a loss of anywhere between 55 and 65 at that point. Otherwise they try to see what could be a deterient and help fix it. So, according to my Doctor, who I think the world of, you are right on track. Hugs, Loretta

Hi: I saw my doctor at 3 months and I had lost about 48 pounds and he said great going...now I am down about 53 pounds...don't forget the more you have to lose the faster it goes...I am half way there at 31/2 months...so what is your doctor saying you are doing great...don't fret...it takes about 12-18 months to get the weight off...take care and again you are doing great..Dennis

In 3 months??? I had my surgery the day before you and I think I was down 60 lbs. when I went for my check up. My doc thought I was 6 months out and was so happy. I corrected him and told him I was only 3 months out and he couldn't believe it. Your doctor needs to lay off. You are doing great!!! 56 lbs IS great! Marcia
