HELP!!!!!

I had been doing great once I hit the 3 month mark 2 weeks ago. I've been able to tolerate more foods and I stopped puking! But I guess I got a little too confident because last night I took a BIG supplement (enteric coated SAM-e) and I guess that was a bad move because now I feel like I have something STUCK and even water makes me uncomfortable! I've been trying to drink water and hot tea to see if I can melt it or make it go down or something, but everything keeps coming back up instead! UGH! I wish I'd never swallowed that damn pill! Anyone here ever do this? Is there anything I can do to make it go away? I thought by now it would have dissolved, but something is obviously stuck! I'm at work and running to the bathroom every half hour hoping I can puke it back out! Vi

I just called and could you believe none of them are in the office today? Just my luck... the receptionist wasn't very helpful either... she said she would "take a message" and IF one of them calls in, she'll give them the message... geez. One of the women on the NY board told me that happened to her once and it lasted for about 8 hours, but she also recommended that I call the surgeon because sometimes things can get really stuck. I'm hoping it will pass, but if not, I guess I could run to the ER at night and demand they scope it out. Ok, let's hope it passes! Thanks for the advice!

Thank goodness, I'm all better now! It took a little over 24 hours and a good deal of puking at my son's school (after I dropped off his birthday cupcakes on my lunch hour ) but eventually that damn pill must have come out because I was able to slowly eat a little and feel ok! Thanks! Vi P.S. When the receptionist from the doctor's office finally called me back she said I had to "wait it out" and it would pass.

Vi, Doesn't your doctor have a "service" or someone who is on call for him? I'm sorry you're going through this, but your doc or the ER are probably the best suggestions. If you're heaving every half hour, you're not doing your 3-1/2 month old internal sutures any good. You could also give yourself a hernia. I know it is uncomfortable. Please let me know if you were able to reach your surgeon or his on-call. Cheryl

I finally got a call back from the office and they told me that I had to "wait it out" and that the pill will pass eventually. I wasn't heaving hard every half hour so I wasn't too worried, I just wanted to make sure that I was doing everything I could to help it! I was afraid to eat or drink because it was feeling so uncomfortable, but I kept drinking hot tea and it's getting better. I had to go to my son's school right before lunch to drop off his birthday cupcakes (he'll be 11 tomorrow) and as soon as I got there I had to run and throw up in the bathroom. The only good thing was that I threw up a LOT so I'm hoping the pill came out. I'm feeling a little better now and I just ate most of a ham and cheese wrap that I made for lunch (wrapped in romaine lettuce) and so far so good. My tummy feels a bit tender but I think the worst of it has passed. Thanks all of you for your help! I'm avoiding big pills from here on!

Go to the pharmacy, ms vi, & get a pill splitter ... They're only a couple bucks & save the day w/ big pills.

I have one and my son recommended that I use it when he saw the size of the pill, but MS VI, feeling ****y and thinking she could handle it, didn't listen!!! Next time I WILL follow the advice of my 11 year old!

Vi, I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I read your posts below. I just wanted to tell you that my surgeon told me no enteric coated pills. They are made to dissolve in your intestine; but since ours have been bypassed, it could go all the way through without doing anything for you at all. The first time I took my prescribed Vitamin E, it made me awfully sick. I can't take it. I have to open it and put it in fruit or something. The capsule is simply gigantic and it sits like a hockey puck in my pouch. Treat your tummy nicely the rest of the day... Cheryl
