Carbs
I just typed all this about my carb intake and it said it saved my message, but I can't find it, so I'll repost. Sorry if it's a duplicate. I was saying in my other post that I never counted carbs. Especially since surgery, with the small amount of calories we eat and focusing mostly on protein, I didn't think I would ever eat too many carbs in a day. I starting tracking on fitday yesterday and was really shocked when I put in all my food for the day.
Here is yesterday:
865 cal, 20g fat, 95g carbs, 88g protein - MORE CARBS THAN PROTEIN??? This is where they snuck in at: 30g from Fiber One w/ 1/2 c. skim milk for breakfast, 16 from my after workout protein shake, 20 from my 100 cal. pack of oreos, 22 from my chili for lunch, 3 from the A1 sauce that I put on my steak for dinner and 4 from my sugar free hot cocoa that I have in the evenings.
So, I really modified today and this is what I had:
803 calories, 14g fat, 57g carbs and 113g protein - the carbs were 21g from beef jerky, 32 from 2 protein shakes and 4 from the hot cocoa.
I guess no more cereal and no more 100 cal packs. I'm really surprised that I had been eating that much.

I hear ya. But...as long as it is the good carbs, it shouldn't be a problem. For instance, today, so far, I've had 93 carbs and I haven't had my 2nd shake, which I will do at 3:30. But...So far I've only had 10 g. of Fat and 55 g. of protein.
These carbs came in from:
1 c. skim milk-12
Protein - 3
6 baby carrots - 8
FF sour cream - 15
Small Banana-19
1 c. FF Home made lentil soup - 27
1 Quaker Q Smart Bar - 9
I am trying to increase my protein because I've been told by more than one source that this will help my hair loss. Also, I've noticed that those who do more protein, shed more weight. So I will give it a try for a couple of weeks and see if there is a difference.

I MUST BE DOING SOMETHIN' WRONG CUZ Y'ALL ARE ABLE TO EAT A TON MORE FOOD THAN I CAN. I'M STILL AROUND 600-700 CALORIES A DAY & SOOOO FULL ON THAT.
LOOK AT HOOD CARB COUNTDOWN MILK BEVERAGE, MS LORETTA ... ONLY 3 SUGAR CARBS & THEY HAVE FAT-FREE, WHITE & CHOCOLATE. THE FF IS JUST LIKE SKIM BUT BETTER NUT NUMBERS.
YES, PROTEIN WILL HELP YOUR HAIR, BUT SO WILL BIOTIN IN PILL FORM. I TAKE 1,500mcg 3 TIMES A DAY & HAVE NEVER LOST HAIR AFTER SURGERY. MY NAILS ARE STRONGER AS WELL.

Thanks Lady D for the advice on the Hood Milk. I had a coupon for it but have not been able to find it in the 3 different supermarkets I went to. I will keep looking for that will definitely cut the carbs a day by at least 18. Besides, I would love to make my chocolate protein shake with the chocolate milk for even more flavor.
By the way, I only take one Botin pill a day and have since before Thanksgiving. I obviously was doing it wrong. I need to take more cause my hair definitely fell out.

SINCE YOUR HAIR IS FALLING OUT NOW, YOU NEED A HIGHER DOSE THAN THE NORMAL 1 PILL A DAY ... THAT IS A MAINTENANCE DOSAGE. ONCE YOUR HAIR IS IN GOOD CONDITION, THEN CUT BACK TO 2 BIOTIN A DAY & SEE IF YOU MAINTAIN THAT CONDITION. IF SO, CUT BACK TO THE MAINTENANCE DOSE OF 1 PILL A DAY.
REMEMBER THAT WE ALL ABSORB LESS THAN NON-WLS PATIENTS SO WHAT IS A NORMAL, MAINTENANCE DOSE FOR THEM MAY NOT BE ENOUGH FOR US. ALWAYS TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU ARE CONCERNED OR HAVE QUESTIONS.
I HAVE ALL MY MEDS & SUPPLEMENTS ON A SPREADSHEET WITH DOSES & STRENGTHS ... &, I TAKE IT TO MY PRIMARY PHYSICIAN EACH TIME I GO FOR AN APPOINTMENT. HE'S HAPPY WITH THE DOSES & WITH THE RESULTS. I'M REALLY BLESSED BECAUSE HE HAS A FAMILY MEMBER WHO HAD WLS, SO HE IS MUCH MORE EDUCATED ABOUT OUR ISSUES THAN MOST FAMILY DOCTORS.
FOR INSTANCE, HE HAS GIVEN ME THE LEEWAY WITH MY HEART MEDICATION TO TAKE 1, 1 1/2 OR 2 PILLS 4 TIMES A DAY DEPENDING ON HOW MY HEART IS ACTING AT ANY GIVEN TIME ... HE REALIZES THAT AS A WLS PATIENT, MY HEART MEDS ARE NOT GOING TO REACT IN THE SAME MANNER AS SOMEONE WHO IS TAKING THEM THAT HASN'T HAD THE SURGERY.

"SPECIAL K PROTEIN PLUS" IS LOWER IN CARBS & HAS PROTEIN ADDED. 100 CALORIES ... 10gr PROTEIN ... 9 NET CARBS = 14 TOTAL = 5 FIBER, 2 SUGAR & 7 OTHER CARBS WHICH I ASSUME ARE SUGAR ALCOHOLS.
I EAT IT SPARINGLY, BUT IT IS GOOD & I ADD RAISINS SO I HAVE TO WATCH THE SUGAR IN THEM. I USE FAT-FREE HOOD CARB COUNTDOWN MILK BEVERAGE WITH IT.

WHEWWWW, IT'S LIKE NO WAY!!! I GOT IN 700 CALORIES YESTERDAY & I WAS MISERABLE. BEING ON A LONG STALL, YOU GET TO WONDERING IF YOU'RE DOING "EVERYTHING" WRONG!
I AM TRYING TO INCREASE MY FLUIDS ... ONLY GETTING MAYBE 40 OZ.
I DON'T GET THAT MANY SUGAR CARBS UNLESS I EAT RAISINS.
I NEED TO START RIDING THAT BIKE GATHERING DUST IN THE GARAGE!
I'M GETTING 60 - 80 GRAMS OF PROTEIN, SO I'M OK THERE, BUT EVERYONE SAYS TO INCREASE PROTEINS TO BREAK A STALL SO I MIGHT ADD ANOTHER PROTICA OR STALLONE PUDDING A DAY.
