What are you grateful for?

Oprah has this journal on her sight where you have to list 5 things to be grateful for everyday, so I'm kind of copying her idea and putting at last TWO things in my journal that I'm grateful for each day... Anyway, I wanted to share with all of you ONE of the things I'm grateful for today. Last Thursday I took a bad fall on ice in my driveway and I'm fairly certain that if I had been as heavy as I was PRE-OP I would have done a lot more damage. As it turned out, I scraped my knee, ripped new pants and was a bit sore and swollen (and still black and blue today) but I had the knee x-rayed and everything was fine. HOWEVER, they did notice some thickening (calcification) of the bone in my knee so I have to have an MRI next week so they can get a better look. I'm not concerned, I'm sure everything will be fine, but my JOY came when the technician asked me over the phone if I was over 280 lbs (hard to do the MRI if you are) and I had to stop and think and then I realized that for the FIRST TIME in about 20 years I am UNDER 280!! Last summer I was 75 lbs over that mark and I wouldn't have been able to have an MRI so that gives me another reason to be grateful for this surgery!!! What are you grateful for?

I am grateful for my newfound energy. Today I cleaned my van, went to the gym, Wal-mart and the grocery store, took the van and vacuumed it, cleaned my house better than it has been cleaned in a long time. Around 3:00 when I sat down I started feeling so fatigued. I took a shower and got a second wind. Until recently, I would have definately taken a nap after that. But, didn't need one. I am also grateful for the support I get at home and with all of my family. My parents and in-laws are wonderful. My sister got me to join the gym with her and then my mom joined too. My kids always ask me how much sugar is in something because they want to know if I can eat it. My husband would do anything for me. He is just amazing. I feel really blessed. Marcia

I'M GRATEFUL FOR MY BELOVED HUSBAND, NICHOLAS. TO SAY MY PREVIOUS 30-YEAR MARRIAGE WAS PURE HELL IS PUTTING IT MILDLY. SINCE MEETING NICK ONLINE 2/5/2000 (ALMOST OUR ANNIV!), HIS PURE LOVE, DEVOTION & SACRIFICE HAS ALLOWED ME TO HEAL & BECOME "ME" AGAIN. IF I HAD TO GO THROUGH ANOTHER 30 YEARS OF HELL JUST TO BE WITH THIS MAN, I WOULD. I FINALLY "KNOW" WHAT A TRULY LOVING MARRIAGE IS ALL ABOUT. I'M GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP MY PARENTS NOW IN THEIR TIME OF NEED AS THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME - FEELS GOOD TO BE ABLE TO "GIVE BACK" SOMETHING! I HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD BECAUSE OF THEIR LOVE ... THEY WERE TOUGH BUT FAIR & LIVED LIVES OF INTEGRITY THAT ONE COULD FEEL CONFIDENT FOLLOWING. I'M GRATEFUL FOR OUR DAUGHTER, NATALIE. I WAS NEVER BLESSED WITH CHILDREN OF MY OWN. SHE'S THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD WHO LOVED ME ENOUGH TO CALL ME "MOM" ... & SHE MEANS IT. I LOVE HER SO DEARLY. I'M GRATEFUL FOR THIS MEDICAL MIRACLE OF WLS WHICH IS ALLOWING ME TO REGAIN MY HEALTH & ENERGY FOR THE 1st TIME IN OVER 25 YEARS. IT'S BEEN CHALLENGING AT TIMES BUT NOTHING I WOULDN'T GO THROUGH AGAIN JUST TO GET TO THIS POINT. I LOOK FORWARD TO SUCH AN ACTIVE LIFE WITH NICK NOW. &, I THANK MY LORD FOR ALL THE BLESSINGS HE BESTOWS ON ME DAY IN & DAY OUT EVEN ON MY WORST DAYS WHEN I'M ANYTHING BUT LOVABLE! GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK

OHHH MS VIOLET ... I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU! WE'VE BEEN INSEPARABLE FROM DAY ONE. HE CALLS ME SEVERAL TIMES A DAY JUST TO TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON AT WORK, & THAT HE LOVES & MISSES ME. HE MAKES ME A BETTER PERSON JUST BECAUSE HE LOVES ME SO COMPLETELY & SACRIFICIALLY. HE'S MADE MY LIFE COMPLETE. I THINK MY HEART WOULD STOP BEATING IF I EVER LOST HIM. GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK
