FESS UP, WHAT DO WE CHEAT ON?
I'm soooooo glad I'm not the only one- although I don't feel like I cheat a whole lot. Some of the things I "snack" on are Wheat Thins (I put peanut butter on them to get SOME protein), I've had popcorn once and it didn't bother me, I usually have 2 carbonated drinks per week (Diet Coke, or Diet Sprite usually), I can tolerate sweets & don't dump, but I just don't crave sweets like I used to, which is a miracle in itself! I did make chocolate chip cookies for my office a few weeks ago, and I had a bite of one cookie. And I thought pasta was cheating, but I found some whole wheat pasta that has 8 grams of protein in it, so is that still cheating?
LATELY, I HAVE JUST GOTTEN PLAIN LAZY ABOUT MY WLS EFFORTS. GOT THE AWFUL ATTITUDE THAT "OH WELL, THE WEIGHT'S COMING OFF SO I DON'T HAVE TO WORK ON IT YET". SO, I WASN'T EATING OR DRINKING OR MOVING NEARLY ENOUGH. TELLS YOU WHY I'M ON A 15-DAY STALL.
I ALSO BEGAN ADDING THINGS LIKE WHITE GRAVY & WHITE PASTA TO MY EATING ROUTINE EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T MISS THEM & HAVEN'T EATEN THEM UP TO NOW ... WELL, DAH-UHHHH, LIKE SHOOT MYSELF IN THE FOOT!
CONFESSION IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL; BUT ACTION IS GOOD FOR THE BODY!!!!!
GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK
I'm glad I'm not the only one, too! My big cheat is sweet tea- you cant be born and raised in the south and not be addicted to tea! BUT, and I use this in my defense, I have maybe one glass throughout the whole day and still maybe drink only about 1/4 of it. Once in a blue moon I may have one of those 100-calorie Oreos, not the whole pack, but one of the "cookies". I have fruit every day (3-9 whole strawberries in my protein smoothies), allowed by my surgeon so I dont consider it a cheat, and it does wonders for satisfying my sweet tooth. I have no interest in soda anymore, that was my biggest preop worry. Chocolate isnt good anymore, which is great! I'm still having such a problem actually eating anything at all that I'm not too worried about the few cheats I have...
Good question, glad to hear we're not alone!

Hi Dennis,
Thank you for posting this. It took a lot of courage.
I have been much too afraid to try sugar. I don't want to know that I might not dump. I do occasionally have 1/2 of a Power Crunch Bar, but sweets just aren't my thing.
I cheat on carbs, fat and sodium. I have had a quarter of a bagel with butter. I have had pasta and it wasn't whole wheat. I even had potato chips last night! The saltier the snack, the more I want it. I am afraid of popcorn, though, and will not try it for fear I'll screw something up.
I had a teaspoonful of Bailey's off of my hub's ice cream the other night, but I was in a panic that I was going to dump so I didn't try any more than that.
I have some kind of fresh fruit every day, but my surgeon says that's okay.
Okay, I fessed up. I'll admit to feeling better, but guilty still. We didn't learn our bad habits overnight, and I guess we won't get rid of them overnight either.

I'm guilty of eating crunchy snacks. I stay away from potato chips, doritos, and the really high fat stuff. I go for pretzels, baked tortilla chips, or light popcorn. I'm really good about avoiding too much sugar though. I do eat a small piece of real chocolate almost every day, but I keep it under 10 grams of sugar.
