What are your goals?
Last month we posted our goals for January and I thought it was a good thing for me to focus on.
I said I wanted to be at 185 by Feb. 1st. While I didn't quite make it to 185 I did get to 186 which I'm super pleased with. I lost 12.5 lbs. in January. That is a little over my monthly goal of 10-12 lbs. per month. My husband & I discussed (years ago) going on a cruise or down to the Bahamas or something (we've never done either) once I get down to 180. Well I bet he never thought we were actually going to go. So I would like to be at 180 around Valentine's Day. This year I want a trip more than I want a dozen roses!!!!!
Dawn,
My goal was to reach 299. Well I fell short by 8 pounds. 307 this morning Then I sat back and thought, why didnt I reach this goal...
Heres where I fell short...
Gym only once or twice a week.
No walking during the week except at walmart and the mall
Snacking on Baked chips with ranch dressing.
Added crackers to my soup and chili...didnt need them.
water intake only between 45-55. ( new research shows we need 80 ounces a day)
Didnt go to fitday.com and keep track of my calories.
Well, looks like I am to blame and not the wls.
VERY HONEST & INSIGHTFUL ANALYSIS, MS DEB. I WAS FALLING INTO THE "JUST A LITTLE CARBS" PIT ... A LITTLE WHITE GRAVY HERE ... A PIECE OF BREAD THERE ... SOME CRACKERS IN MY SOUP. IT ALL ADDS UP ... &&&, I WAS DOING HORRID ON THE FLUID INTAKE. I'M BACK TO LISTING FLUID & PROTEIN AMOUNTS ON MY SPREADSHEET SO I KNOW IF I HIT GOAL DAILY OR NOT.
YOU'LL CERTAINLY MAKE YOUR GOAL NEXT MONTH!
GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK
My goals for Feb. are to
1. add a protein drink each night before I go to bed (heard protein at night helps and I am guessing it can't hurt)
2. exercise every day (no skipping weekends)
Before surgery I wrote down a monthy "hope" loss on my desk calendar. It says that before March 1st I wanted to be down 75 pounds. As of this morning I am down 63 so that means 12 pounds over the next month. I really think that is possible.
So that is my big goal
be down 75 pounds by March 1st--- weighing in at 282
thanks for starting this I really think it will help us all - Jennifer

I haven't set monthly goals yet but here is a try.......
By March 1st I want to:
1. Be at 265. This would be a loss of 18lbs for the month
2. Average 20 miles a week of walking. Presently I'm walking 15 miles a
week
3. Either eat/drink a protein bar or shake each day, which I don't do now.
4. Log my daily activities and food intake each day on Fitday.com.
I opened an account with them 3 days ago.
5. As always, strive to be a better husband and father to my family.

My Goals are:
1) Weigh 171lbs I now weigh 178lbs so that's like 7lbs. It's going to be VERY hard cause I'm losing really slowly.
2) I want to go to the gym at least 4 times a week and do 45mins of cardio and weights.
3) Stop eating junk!!! I want to stop eating carbs, and track everything I put in my mouth on fitday.com
4)Drink 80oz of water like I heard someone recommended
5) Eat at least 60 oz of protein.
We can do this!!!!!
I definitely know that we need to keep our goals realistic because when we set them too high, we set ourselves up for failure (been there, done that over my MANY years as a PROFESSIONAL DIETER)!
Soooo, keeping that in mind, I'm going to aim for an average of 2 lbs a week and hope to lose 8 lbs by the end of Feb (since it's only 28 days).
I'm also going to try to shake up my work-outs a bit so that my body doesn't get too "comfy" where it is and I'm going to try to cut back on carbs a bit and keep up my protein so that I stay around 100-120 grams a day. (I slacked off a bit on that and I know that I can easily get 100 grams of carbs but not protein, so I really need to work on that one!)
After reading that article that Celia posted for us, I would like to try and keep my carbs around 60 grams, but I don't know how easy that will be for me!
Last but not least, I'm going to be more diligent about getting in LOTS of water. I would love to get up to about 100 oz a day! Some days I barely make the 64!
Hi...I am on a stall did not reach my Feb. goal of 235..am at 238.2...ba humbug...by March 1st. would like to be at 230...dream on...but that is 7 pounds...so hope do do it...I would like to keep walking and up it to 3 miles per day. Stop cheating on sugar foods...and fess up when I do. 4 months...wow can you believe how far we have come...we can do this, yes we can... Dennis
This is wonderful. It really helps keep this experience based in reality. We can set realistic goals for ourselves and see them through. If we don't see them through successfully, then at least we can look with honest eyes at why we may not have succeeded. Let's make sure to set reasonable goals, though. This is not a punishment...it's a tool to help keep us accountable and on track. That being said, I'll step down from the soapbox and post my goals for February.
1) Up my water intake to greater than 32 ounces, which is by far the best I've done so far. I know I've been a bad girl
2) Drink most of my water before 2:00 pm so I'm not up all night peeing. I have to really work at this.
3) To not eat at night. I don't know if it is head hunger or real hunger, but it is BAD. After a lifetime of feeding myself at night, it's hard to break. I try to make healthy choices, a piece of cheese or some peanut butter.
4) To exercise on weekends religiously. I'm strict about it at work because of the Wellness Program, but left to my own devices, I'm a slacker.
5) To make myself eat breakfast. I can barely choke down anything in the morning but coffee. I don't usually get any food in until 9 a.m., even though I wake up at 5:30.
6) Lose to 160. That's 8 pounds in 28 days. 160 will put me at minus 80 pounds from my surgery date of October 3rd.
Okay, I'm going to hold myself to these goals and work at it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to examine my goals.
