I Posted on the main board.... Hi folks, I am having some confusion as a baby post-op... I am 3 months out and wanting to know how many calories, carbs and protein I should get in a day. I took in a little less than 700 cals. yesterday. My nutritionist mentioned that I get in 700 cals- 1000. Anyway, I really need some help with the numbers if anyone can advise me. I have been on a stall for over 2 weeks now but I have lost 60lbs in 3 months. TYIA for your help! Sallykate P.S I am having a hard time eating.... I just do not want to?

Sallykate.. I think it depends a lot on your level of exercise...rite now based on that I need to get over a 1000 calories a day...nutritionist wants 33 grams of fat, MAX and more carbs than I want to eat...also 100 grams of protein is what I usually get everyday..... Jennifer

I get in 100 grams a day if I have 2 or 3 protein shakes a day (at 31 grams each), which I will do for a few days in a row, and then I slack off! I did it for almost 2 weeks straight and got tired of it, so now I try to do at least 2 a day.

I'm just curious, what do you eat to keep your carbs below 35?? I wasn't able to eat most carbs until recently and I still got about 80 grams of carbs a day (between fruits and veggies and the few things I could eat)! I would love to avoid carbs more, but they seem to be in everything, even the protein drinks/bars (especially when made with milk). I found that on the days that I was able to get in about 100 grams of protein, I had about 80 grams of carbs and that was without being able to eat most of them!

If I do 3 shakes a day plus food, I can get about 1000 calories and about 100 grams of protein, but it's hard! I don't eat much regular food! I've lost 61 lbs in the past 3 months, but I was on an 18 day stall until yesterday! It'll start moving again, don't worry! Vi

You should ask your surgeon and nutritionist what's best for you. My surgeon told me I should be getting 1200 - 1500 calories, at least 60 g of protein and 64 oz of water. The nutritionist told me to get 1/3 of my calories from fat and to balance out carbs (starch v. non-starch) and get 1/3 of my calories from carbs. So far I'm meeting the proportions and the basic goals with the exception of calories (which are roughly 1000 a day on average). I use fitday.com to track everything. Also, sometimes you need to eat to lose. If you are getting too few calories in your body doesn't want to let go of fat. Wish you all the best! Illini

I love fitday... I seem to get in about 1/3 of everything too... seems easier to do that trying to cut out carbs I guess. I love my fruits and veggies, couldn't live without them!
