Question for all the seasoned travelers?
I need some advice! I'm in the midst of booking my flight for my trip to Cali in May and my friend insists that I should get a connecting flight so that I get a break to stretch out in between. However, some of these connecting flights have an hour or two in between flights and I really don't want to be wandering around an airport in a strange city for an hour or two. I would rather pay the extra $50 for a non-stop flight and get to Cali in 6 hours!
HOWEVER, I've never flown that far (or anywhere alone for that matter) so I wanted to get advice from other people who have done it.
Do you think it's better to have that stop in between and deal with the connecting flight so you can stretch your legs or do you prefer to fly non-stop and just get to where you're going? Would it be horrible to sit in a plan for 6 hours straight? The longest I've ever done is 3 hours.
Of course, depending on what time I go and which airport, I might not have a choice, but if I do, I want to explore my options!
Thanks!
Vi
Hey Vi,
My mom is a missionary and flys all over the world she says non stop is the way to go that layovers in big airports can be a nightmare. If you want to stretch you can walk in the plane. The longest flight i've ever taken was 1.5 hours so I can't tell ya. but if it is only a 6 hour flight i'd go non-stop.

Please take my advice and just do the non-stop. You can get comfortable in your space and never have to move again if you don't want to. I lived in Alaska for 7 years and made too many trips to count between Anchorage and Alabama and I would always suggest non stop. Why waste vacation time in an airport.
Have fun, jennifer
Hi Vi,
Where in California are you going to be? Are you flying into LA or Ontario? Any chance of us meeting up? I live in the desert above Los Angeles (about 2 hours away from Ontario Airport).
Whenever I fly home to New York from California where I now live, I always take the nonstop flights. I fly Jet Blue a lot. I get up and walk the length of the plane 3 or 4 times in 6 hours and even spend some time standing. I get an aisle seat so I can get up and down whenever I want without disturbing people who might be sleeping.
The long layover tends to be worse for me because I'll get where I need to go to change planes and end up sitting the whole time anyway.
Have a safe trip!

I USED TO LIVE NEAR CERES IN MODESTO, CA FOR 19 YEARS ... DON'T FLY INTO OAKLAND OR SAN FRANCISCO - THAT'S ON THE COAST IN THE BAY AREA & A MESS TO GET BACK TO THE VALLEY FROM. FLY INTO SACRAMENTO & THEN YOU SHOOT RIGHT DOWN 99 (IF I REMEMBER MY HWY #s) INTO CERES. SOOOO MUCH EASIER ... &, SAC IS AN EASIER TOWN TO GET THROUGH THAN ANY OF THE TOWNS IN THE BAY AREA ...
I MISSED THE BEGINNING ... IS THIS A VACATION OR BUSINESS TRIP OR WHAT? I LOVED CA, ESPECIALLY THE AREA YOU'RE GOING INTO ... IT'S IN THE VALLEY WITH THE OCEAN TO THE WEST ... THE MOUNTAINS TO THE EAST & NORTH ... THE VINEYARDS & ORCHARDS THROUGHOUT THE VALLEY ... WONDERFUL PLACE (BUT, EXPENSIVE) TO LIVE IF YOU LOVE TO TRAVEL AROUND THE AREA YOU'RE IN.
CAN I HIDE IN YOUR LUGGAGE? I HAVEN'T BEEN BACK SINCE 1996. WOWOW, AN ENTIRE DECADE AGO. TIME FLIES!
GOD BLESS MS VI & ENJOY ... DAWN & NICK
