I'm Losing all My Hair!
Hi Karen,
55 lbs. is right on target. My Dr. told me that 55 to 65 is what they like to see for approximately 3 months. But I do notice when I get my protein in and then some, I lose more.
About the hair. I feel your pain. I have been losing my hair for about 2 months and I didn't have much to begin with. Just today I noticed that I have new hair growth. Some of the pieces are 2" long and I don't know why I'm just seeing them now. But it is still falling out. I've been taking Biotin for about 2 months now. I was told this is something that is going to happen and it will stop after about 2 months. I was told that trauma to the body usually brings on hair loss. Couple that with the rapid weight loss and we are destined to lose the hair. Some say it has to do with your protein but all 3 Drs. at the Barix Clinic say that is not so. This has happend to me before with surgery and it does grow back. In the meantime, I try and be innovative with my hair styles. I find it a small price to pay for the rewards that I have found from this life changing surgery.
Hope that helps.
Loretta
I don't know if this helps at all, but I take biotin and zinc everyday because they said (at my doctor's office) it could help prevent hair loss. I also shampoo with "Thick and Full Hair" because I thought mine was getting a little thin. Fortunately I haven't lost hair yet (or at least I don't think so).
By the way, I've lost 59 lbs in 3 months, so I think 55 is great! The way I look at it, even if I could lose 10 lbs a month and not gain it back, it's great!
I'm in the same boat as you dear. I just cut my hair last weekend because it has become too pitiful for words. I too have lost only 55 pounds and I continue to gain and lose the same 2-3 pounds over and over again. I just say hang in there. I'm told that this too shall pass. I have started taking Biotin and that is supposed to help with hair health. also use a protein infused shampoo (like placenta shampoo) - my hair stylist suggested this. good luck!

Hello All
Everyone is doing so well. I've only lost 40 lbs in three mos and am kind of depressed about that. But my BMI went from 49 to 39, so I hope I'm losing fat and not muscle.
And, yep, I'm seeing a lot more hair in the drain and coming out when I comb/brush. I was already thin on top due to thyroid disease and genetics. So I started using minoxidil and am also taking biotin and flax oil capsules and zinc. I use Nutri-Ox shampoo/conditioner. I make sure to get all my protein too. I don't know what else to do?
YOU ARE DOING FANTASTIC, MS MERCY ... WHEN HAVE YOU EVER LOST 40 #s & KEPT IT OFF? SO, NOT TO WORRY ... WE ALL LOSE AT A DIFFERENT RATE.
IF YOU'RE GETTING YOUR PROTEIN IN, THEN YES ... YOU CAN FIGURE YOU'RE LOSING FAT INSTEAD OF MUSCLE. IT'S EASIER FOR THE BODY TO TURN FAT INTO ENERGY THAN TO BREAK DOWN MUSCLE. WHEN YOU FEED THE BODY ENOUGH PROTEIN, IT WILL BREAK DOWN FAT FIRST.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ... GOD BLESS DAWN & NICK
