Bra Sizes: Help
As I am losing weight I have had to buy a new bra, unfortunately I have not lost anything in my breast. I thought if I wore a C cup at 46 I would also wear a C cup in a 42. However a C cup is very tight. I was hooking the bra in the last spot, so I figured a 40 D would fit. Well the 40 fit, but the D was even tighter than the C. Anyone know how to figure out cup size?

I'm not an expert, but I've heard people say that if you want a very good bra fitting, go to Victoria's Secret; they know bras! My sister went there and found out she's been buying bras too big around, and too small in the cup. She is so happy with her new bras, says they don't ride up and they're more comfortable.
It's worth a try - you don't need to buy anything there, but let them determine your correct bra size.
Someone else told me that Lane Bryant can help you out with getting a good bra fit, and I've seen a great assortment of bra styles in their stores.
Good luck!

Mary,
Had the same problem recently. My old bras were comically big and I had no idea what size I was.
Went to Nordstrom to get fitted for a bra (those are the folks who did the fittings for Oprah's bra show). Explained to the person doing the fitting that I'd had gastric bypass surgery in October and knew I'd still be losing weight. Turns out the fitter's DIL had WLS and she knew exactly what I needed to do. She fitted me just a bit tight with all the bras on the very first hooks. Got my correct size, bought 2 bras there then went to Lane Bryant and bought another less expensive bra - and they all fit great.
Couldn't believe what a huge difference it makes to have a bra that fits properly! WOW!
Like the rest of the folks who've chimed in, I recommend that you get fitted by someone who's well trained. I'd also recommend that you let them know that you've had WLS and definitely will be losing more weight.
Good luck!

I would do what everyone said and go in for a professional fitting. I tried using the fit charts and a measuring tape when I bought new bras. I was a 44H, and according to LaneBryants measuring tips, I should now be a 40H, but when I got 2 new bras in the mail the cups in both were too small. I don't get it at all. I'm shrinking around my underbust but my cup size is going up??? They were expensive bras too. Even when I was a size 12, my band size never went below 40, so I figure if I wait long enough, my boobs might shrink and they will eventually fit, but that may be a pipe dream....I definitely see a reduction and lift in my future.
Anyways....they are balconette bras so they push up and I "spillith" over. They drive my husband crazy, so for now they serve a purpose!!!! Even if I can never wear them out of the house they were worth the money. After over 13 years together it's nice to know he still thinks I'm sexy.

Sheryl,
Thanks somuch everyone has been so helpful, looks like a trip to Lane Bryants is in the near future. I agree, if I don't start loosing some of my boobs I see a reduction in the future, I should have enough to get medical approval of the reduction, and along with the reduction a lttle lift might be nice. I've never been perky it might be a nice change.
