protein shakes
I was down to ZERO a day, but now that everything seems to bother OSCAR THE POUCH and I need to find a way to get in my protein, I have 2-3 shakes a day... this past week I had at LEAST 3 a day! Eating is getting a LITTLE easier so hopefully I'll be able to cut that down again very soon!

I have one a day I make with AnyWhey which is about 17g. And I also eat a Snickers Marathon Protein bar which has 26 grams of protein. I can't eat the whole thing at once (it does have 15g of sugar) but I eat it throughout the day and it's not everyday, maybe every other day.
I just went to see my primary care doc on Wed. and he asked me if I was getting in 75 grams of protein a day and I just laughed.

Two. According to my doc and several websites, the best time is to take them in the am get your body going and the other at night since you are burning the most fat while sleeping. My surgeon told me today that anything over 50-60 grams a day is fine, but unless you are a "gym rat" and body builder, you won't use it all. So I don't worry about pounding these drinks down all day--I take two protein drinks (approx 23 grams each) at opposite times of the day and drink plenty of water inbetween. The rest of the protein I need is in my food.
(Ask your surgeon what you are required to take!!!)
I usually only have one protein drink a day - in the morning. But, today I have to have two since I didn't eat lunch (had a long drive to get to my surgeon's office for an appointment and the snow/rain was moving in so I didn't stop for food on the way home).
My surgeon wants me to get in 60 grams of protein and I usually get in more like 70.

Because I am having so much trouble keeping food down my nut has me on 3 a day. I do not call mine a protien shake that sounds nasty. Mine is a frozen fruit smoothie wich just happens to have a scoop of protien powder in it. I could not stand just the protien in liquid, it made me ill. But as a fruit smoothie I love it.
By the way next Wed. I go in for a scope, to see if I have a stricture.

I don't drink them at all, because I can't seem to find one that tastes good.
I live in germany so I am limited to what I can buy at the US Commissarya nd anything off post is in German and so I have no idea what it says on teh labels.
Europeans in general also do not put Nutrition Fact labels on their food. So it will just say:
Zuker(sugar), Fett (fat), calohydrate (Carbs) and thats about it. They don't say amounts or anything. I have tried ot ask, an dthey just tell you they don't understand English or they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Any suggestions.
I bought a prtein powder via the net, and others have suggested Carnation shakes with a scoop of the Protein powder. But teh carnation shakes made me vomit. I tried every type or real and fake milk out there and also tried mixing it with H2O and still had no luck. I have also tried the Atkins shakes and I vomited just trying to swallow it down.
Can someone suggest something and tell me what they mix it with if its not already premixed?
I have looked at the Slim Fast shakes which has 10 gr of protein but it has 17 gr of sugar. I don't "dump" so teh sugra isn't an issue. But it is also like 24 carbs, butonly 180 calories.
Anyone think this could work, if it doesn't make me puke?
I know that I like the taste of these because I drank them all teh time before WLS.
I just wasn't sure if they wold be okay on the "new diet".
Any thoughts?
