Is it just me..............

It totally depends on what I'm eating. If I'm eating vegetables or fruit, I can get more in. I think because I can really chew them into nothing. If I'm eating any kind of meat or shrimp, I'm at about 1 ounce for meat and maybe 2 ounces for shrimp. I can eat 2-1/2 ounces of yogurt if I go slowly. I can eat a whole piece of string cheese, but just barely. I think it has a lot to do with whether or not it actually stays in the pouch or drains out slowly as I'm eating. Like, the denser the food, the longer it stays in there. Cheryl

I can eat a whole cup of soup, but it takes me about 25 minutes. The denser the food, the less of it I can eat. If it's salmon I can eat 2 oz and still have a bit of potato and/or other veggies - maybe 1/8 - 1/4 cup. The real key for me is the size bites I eat (must be very, very small) and the speed with which I eat (must be very, very slow). If I eat too fast or too big of a bite without chewing completely (my doc recommends chewing each bite 35 times - which really helps) things get stuck and on 2 occasions I've thrown up (when I was chatting away with friends and not paying attention to eating). It didn't take me too long to figure out that I don't want that to happen again! So I'm very, very careful about how I eat. Also found out this afternoon at my 3 month that I'm not eating enough calories. 600 - 800 isn't enough they want it closer to 1200 - 1500! Never had that problem before! Illini
