Jill, you're talking about two things that probably need to be considered separately; and the first of them is the more urgent of the two. Are you depressed? Do you think you might be really, clinically depressed? Depression is a serious illness, and it's treatable, and it would make me SO HAPPY if you would make an appointment to see your doctor or a mental health professional tomorrow. I suffered with a very serious bout of post-partum depression, and it was completely debilatating. And it has changed my perspective on mental health forever. Please, find the strength within yourself to seek help, if you think you may need it. As for exercise: it can help you recover from depression, along with other things like counseling and medication. And as you feel better, you may feel more like exercising. But please, put first things first, and deal with your sad feelings and low energy. Sorry if it sounds like I'm on a soapbox...because I am. I do mean the best, though, and wish you well! Take care of yourself. Sheryl

Yes I am depressed and on meds. I guess i was hoping the surgery would help with this. Reading the message board is already helping me feel better. I'm going to talk to my Doctor to see if he can give me some suggestion's.

Your meds may need to be adjusted or even changed due to absorbtion and losing weight. Unfortunately doctors don't know a lot about how this can affect us, because it's a relatively new problem. Your pharmacist might have a better idea, they are often better at knowing how meds work than Drs are. Don't give up on yourself and don't ever think you 'just have to live with it'. There is a better way, definitely talk to your doctor and I wish you the very best of luck. I have SO been there. Ann 298/237/175ish

I went through the same thing and had to adjust my meds. I have to take more now, but that's better than the depression. My PCP sent me to a psychiatrist because they can work with the meds better than she could. It took about 4 weeks to get it straightened out, but it was so worth it. Talk to your doctor and keep asking until you find someone to help you.

Jill I know how you feel, and although I KNEW my problems I had before surgery would not just dissappear, there was just the small hope I would be happier after surgery.. which I am finding is not true. Lately I too have been alittle more depressed then I was. Not sure what is going on, but at least we are aware of our problems. I am off 6 days in a row this weekend.. so I plan to hit the gym and work by butt off.. oh wait my butt was the first thing to go..HAHAH I need to work my tummy off!
