To exercise or not to exercise??
EXERCISE WORKS AND IS IMPERATIVE TO YOUR WEIGHT LOSS!
Hi guys, I just had to "exclaim that." I have not felt like I was losing at a fast enough rate and have not been abale to exercise much due to being so weak from the dehydration. Well I have also had a horrific cold but decided that I HAD to start somewhere and so I did. I decided to just do what I could do and be happy with that....
I started 3 days ago and put my heart and soul into it and in those 3 days, I have lost 6 pounds! That's 2 pounds a day! SO I am now at 280lbs and -56lbs! Yesterday was a milestone for me because I weighed 285lbs in January 2004 when I had my pulmonary embloism afterwhich I was put on Zoloft and gained almost 60 lbs. This is the first time I have weighed less than 285lbs in 2 years. I am ecstatic!! My energy is crazy! I love working out and even have gotten my kids doing it with me. I do the walk away the pounds 1 mile walk DVD. That in itself is amazing because I have had to use a wheel chair for shopping. I could not even walk from the theater to the parking lot. Last night we took the kids to see king kong and I walked all the way to the parking lot w/o even a huff or a puff and we parked FAR away. I am feeling great! Slowly but surely I am getting my life back and I LOVE it!

I have started exercising about 2 weeks ago and feel great. I want to encourage you to continue. They say that the key is consistancy. I am trying to go to the gym 3 times a week and I walk the treadmill and do the machines for my legs and arms. I have noticed that I feel like I have more energy, and I think that I am losing inches!!
Keep up the good work!

Sallykate,
It really IS amazing, isn't it?
I started exercising last Thursday, that's 8 days ago. I work for the Marine Corps. They have a Civilian Wellness Program. That means that they will give me my hourly pay for the hour that I go to the gym and I don't lose pay to get healthy.
I go to the gym every day. Me, who never went to a gym before. I tried Curves, but bailed on that quickly. No motivation. Same old story, y'know?
Now, this is what I'm doing. On Monday and Thursday, I am in a Stretching and Toning Class. I had my first one yesterday. It is part aerobics and a lot of stretching. I'm feeling my shins this morning, but it was fun! Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday I do the treadmill. In the short week I've been walking on the treadmill, I have increased my speed and endurance tremendously. The first day I walked a mile in 22 minutes with no incline. Day two I walked that same mile in 20 minutes. On day three, I did it in 16 minutes!! Unbelievable. I'm reaching my target heart rate and I don't get winded. I even had a conversation with the person on the treadmill next to me without the huffing and puffing that would have normally gone along with walking and talking.
It's amazing! I look forward to going to the gym. I really am a new person.

Sallykate,
Don't you just LOVE the WATP walking workouts? I have the 1 mile and 2 mile walks on one DVD. I haven't been exercising lately, but you have convinced me that I need to pop that into the DVD player and walk away! It's always an excuse for me - too busy, too cold, too dark, too wet - you name it. I will start back on my DVD right away!
Thanks for the reminder that exercise has the best benefits! Sounds like you are really enjoying it and I wish you well!
