WELL MEANING FRIENDS ???? help

Hi All, I may just be a litle too sensitive, but has anyone had mixed feelings when friends and co worker trying to be nice call you skinny or tell you how wonderful you look? I look in the mirror and at 5"2" and 216 lbs I am far from skinny. But, I know in comparison to 306 lbs that is skinnier. I always smile and thank them for the compliment, but I feel strange. People tell you how great you look, and you wonder....did I look that bad before? I know I was heavy, but did I look that bad. So am I being too sensitive? Please let me know what you all think! Just smile and enjoy it!! I get that all the time at work and I give them a huge smile and say THANK YOU!!! I told one girl that never in my life would I have expected anyone to call me "skinny" and I love it!!

It's taken me a long time (and a LOT of self HELP books ) to learn how to take a compliment, but it's something we deserve to do for ourselves!! HUGS, Vi

I was just talking about this with my friends. when someone says 'oh you look so great" I interpret that as "boy were you gross before" It's hard for us to accept compliments, I know. I've learned to just say thank you and then change the subject. Just accept the positive and ignore the underlying negativity. Louise, Yeah, it is strange. When you have gotten use to not receiving the compliments to have people now smile at you, and give you compliments, it does take some getting use to. I think I will just have to believe the best. Mary L 306/214/130

I'm getting the same reaction, it's not that you were gross or anything, its just the change, and I'm sure you have a glow about you and pep in your step!! Now everyone in my office wants to go on a diet!!! LOL! Be Happy! We all deserve to be happy and love ourselves... Josie

Josie, Thanks for your support. I know everyone is my office is doing the biggest looser, but they won't let me join. They pay $20 every two weeks and at the end of a month the one who lost the most wins the pot. I agreed, I had an unfair advantage, but the way I am going right now I am only loosing a pound or two a week, the same that they can if they don't cheat. Mary L
