Help me please!
First and foremost, let me say, I am in no way trying to persuade anyone from not having the surgery. Even though in my case, it has been a rough journey, I am still glad I had the surgery. I am also in no way dissing my surgeon. I am not sure where my problems are coming from and am in no way saying this is of his fault. So with that said...
I am so confused. I am just a little over 3 months out and I am having some problems. Since my surgery on October 3rd, I have not been able to hold any food down. As soon as I eat, I get nauseated, get the foamies, then eventually vomit the food back up. I am following all of the rules to the T. I eat slow, chew it very well, and only eat what I am supposed too. I have been back to the doctor and hospitalized a few times for observation since the surgery but there is still no answer to why this is happening.
I have come to the point where I dont eat at all, because I hate how I feel and how I get the dryheeves everytime and it just isnt worth it to me anymore. I have been waiting till I am so weak from not eating to eat. Yes, I have let my doctor know all of this and it seems to be the same route to take everytime. Get admitted to the hospital, stay on phenergan and nothing by mouth diet, have an endoscopy done and go home 4-5 days later with still no answers. I have tried every kind of food that is allowed and EVERYTHING makes me sick! I had not eaten in 3 days and I was really weak last night, so I decided to try and eat. 2 small, chewed very well bites of chicken and I was sick all night and in pain.
I am getting depressed and I am so tired of being sick and tired. Does anyone else have this problem? In advance, any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Gina,
I really have not experienced what you have but I can say that I can't eat chicken ham turkey even if well chewed because they make me sick and I throw up. Maybe if you try liquids for right now like protein shakes and applesause, baby food until you get an answer from the doctor. I know it is getting frustrating but maybe your body is not ready for meats yet or anything that is dense. Maybe you have a stricture. I don't know I hope someone on this board can truly relate to you and you find the answers you need. I hope you feel better. by the way congrats on your weightloss!!!!

Wow, I would have guess this is a stricture, but since they've done endoscopy and found nothing, I can't imagine why you are so miserable. I wish I had something to suggest. Have you considered having a consultation with another WLS surgeon, just to get their perspective?
I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time.

Hi there Gina so very sorry you are having this problem...I would go back to basics...soft mushy food, protein drinks and fluid..and treat your tummy like a babies tummy until they figure out what is wrong...I mean back to basics...you have to eat or you will really get sick...so puree, mash very easy foods..cream of wheat, cream of rice, apple sauce...protein drinks...sorry you are having this problem...hope it gets fixed soon...but please, please try the back to basics diet... Dennis
I am also having a hard time with most foods. Today I tryed to eat a little chunky chicken noodle soup and lost most of it. For the last week or so I have gone back to full liquid diet and find I do fine on that. I have a couple of protien smoothies a day and some watery refried beans or cream soup of some kind and do good. Anytime I try to eat things with lumps or are dense I have problems.
But I have been able to keep my energy up with just the full liquids.
Hope you get better soon.

Hi Gina!
I am having the same problems- although I have not had an endoscopy done, yet.
It is so frustrating and disheartening and I have no other advice- just wanted to let you know I know EXACTLY how you feel.
I have been living on ice pops and saltines lately.
My surgeon/nutritionist isn't as concerned as I want them to be either, so I undertand that frustration as well.
I wish you the very best of luck and if, by chance they do find an answer for you, please pass it along!!
Hang in there,
Ann

I want to say sorry you are being put through the ringer it seems. I know how frustrating it can be to do everything right and still have problems. I had similar problems about 3-4 weeks out. I had my surgery on Oct 4th. My surgeon had me taking one prevacid a day at the time. He upped it to twice a day and have not had any problems at all since. So maybe it is not what you are eating or how much you are eating but just too much acid still being produced. Best of luck and hope you get it figured out soon.
