Checking in with great health news!
Sorry I've been so infrequent to post lately - now that I'm back at work full time, I'm working 10 hour days and busy with my family and household responsibilities the rest of the time. I've been reduced to being an occasional lurker on this board.
I got really great news today and wanted to share - like many of you, my primary goal for undergoing WLS was to improve my health and increase my chances to live a long healthy life. I'm less focused on my "before and after" photos, and more interested in my "before and after" health indicators. I got a heap of lab results back today. Compared with June 2005, here are some huge improvements.
Total Cholesterol: was 236, now 163
Triglycerides: was 244, now 124
A1C ( long term measurement of blood sugar): was 6.6, now 5.7
Fasting glucose: was 108, now 97
Body Mass Index: was 43.0, now 32.4
I AM HEALTHY!! Celebrate with me!!!
I am completely off anti-hyptertensives; I used to take 3 different pills for hypertension every day.
My weight loss is around 2 lbs a week at this point; fast enough to be motivational, but slow enough to be healthy (and hopefully not trigger hair loss).
Thanks for giving me a welcoming and supportive place to share my happy news!
