Hello beautiful people!!! I'm baaack!!! and ready to get back on track and start eating well again, doing the water & protein thing too. I fell of the wagon for a few weeks but I'm back on!!! My doctor never mentioned anything about pork and lamb, I love lamb and sometimes I feel like pork. Have you tried it? what does your doctor say? What about pork rinds? I see they have a lot of protein, what do you think? I am NOT allowed to eat red meat in one year. Would pork & lamb be red meat? Celia

Hey Celia, I'm hopping right on that wagon with you. Besides my gazelle, I haven't worked out since my son got off from Christmas break. He went back to school today and I worked out like crazy. I've been eating like sh*t over the holidays, I even had a 1500 calorie day. One day I didn't even bother to count. I call it "my lost day". I haven't gained weight, but I haven't lost any either and if I want to lose another 15 before Disney in 3 weeks, I've gotta keep my big butt moving and my big mouth shut. I burned over 850 calories from working out today so it's a start. Anyways......I haven't had lamb, but I was just talking to my DH that we should buy some chops and try them. They're higher in fat than red meat, but I love 'em. I hope they go down okay. I've had pork quite a few times. Ham, bacon, or sausage goes down fine, but if I try to eat pork chops or pork loin it's too dense and makes my chest hurt no matter how many times I chew. I think it would go down easier if it were more tender, but my husband and I aren't that good of cooks and dense and dry are all we can manage. I have had pork in sauce at the chinese restaurant and it went down so-so. Porks a white meat. I'm not sure what lamb is, but I don't think it's red...don't quote me on that, though. Sheryl

Thanks for the tip on the gen soy crisps, I bought them and they went down fine. It's so hard for me to find stuff that works for me now, so I was VERY HAPPY! Vi

Hello Twinnie...duh...meat...no you can't have pork and you can't have lamb...they are both considered meat...and very hard to digest...look at your book Dummies for WLS...my doctor said NOOOOO to all of that except..Chicken, turkey and fish...you can't digest it well...you can have a tiny taste off a plate of a friend...but not eat the whole thing...some of the posts on the October board say you can eat anything but hello we in California have very strict doctors that say NO...and NO it is twinnie...you won't be able to get it down except if you mu**** anyway...pork rinds, hmmmmm how high in fat are those? and calories? Trader Joe's has some great soy snacks and low in fat and carbo...so go to Trader Joe's and check out the soy chips...Pork rinds....yuck...made from pig tails and who knows what...I was a butcher at Safeway and you would not want to know what goes into that stuff... and good for you getting on the band wangon...lamb is meat...meat is meat... your twinnnie Dennis

Well I had a little bit of roast pork on Christmas Eve, did fine but don't think I'd eat it again for a while. Lamb, I've never even had in my life!! You know what I was wondering about today? Can we eat the meat inside a Gyro sandwich? That would surely hit the spot!! Let us know how you make out with the pork and/or lamb!! Carol

No red meat? I eat hamburger and meatballs all the time. I didn't get any restrictions, was told to try anything but I've learned from all you guys the best and worst. I have a tough time with chicken so I'd be lost w/out my red meat. Interesting the differences, I wonder what the reasons are for all the different opinions. Well good luck, try some beef!!

Hola Celia, I missed you! I had a pork rind the other day with no problem. I also had "pernir" (Christmas eve) which is pork (and we Puerto Rican's LOOOOOVE our pork) and it went down fine. It was kind of like "pulled" pork so it was in little strips that were easy to eat. I just had a tiny bit and I was very happy with it! If it works for me, hell it should work for anyone. Nothing else seems to agree with me so I treasure the few items that do. Try the pork! I don't know why those docs in Cali are so strict, except that perhaps they want to keep people away from fat? Who knows... but my feeling is, we're all adults and can use good judgement so go for it. HUGS, Vi

Celia.. I made a meatloaf a day ago and I found that meat to go down the best of all the meats I have tried...chicken, tuna and lunch meat....so you never know... I bought kosher lean meat at Trader Joe's and for four ounces it is 10 fat/23 grams of protein and 190 calories...I think it is an excellent choice...I also got some avocados and eat about 1/4 a few times a week...I bought them frozen in bag at Trader's because they aren't fresh here anyway and then I can eat them at my own pace....
