I've tried chips...we went to On The Border and I had like 1 chip...made sure I chewed VERY VERY VERY well..to liquid consistancy....and I took itty bitty bites of it...not honking big ones like I did pre op lol. My doc has cleared me to eat anything so I figure why not test the waters...lol...Anything I try I just make sure to take a teeny bite and chew really well....they even told me I could eat wheat tortillas which really surprised me...need to ask them about flour ones, which Im sure the answer will be NO lol...but you dont know until you ask...oh btw I'm almost 10 wks out Elizabeth

Vickie.. I went to lunch yesterday and ordered chicken fajitas...I didn't eat any tortilla though..I have enough for about 4 meals...I ate small amounts of the sour cream, cheese and guacamole..and I really, really enjoyed my dinner...good protein and I was even able to eat some of the veggies...next time I will ask them to cook the peppers a little bit longer...overall it was a great experience and it was the best meal I have had since WLS...also, I eat refried beans pretty regularly... I seem to NOT do well with most carbs but tortilla chips are WONDERFUL! They don't bother me at all, as I discovered on New Year's eve after eating 3 wonderful chips! I haven't been able to eat a lot of anything, so the past two days for lunch I had 5 or 6 tortilla chips with beans and cheese...YUM, no problems at all! Vi

My problem is that chips and salsa go down way TOO EASY for me. That makes them very dangerous as a trigger food. I eat them if I'm out at a party, but I will not keep them in the house. If they're around, I could lose control. They don't fill me up like more dense foods do, so I can eat way too many at one time. I really enjoy them as a special "party food" though. Carol

I have been eating mexican food for a while now. Beans from Taco Bell have been a staple, and I have been to a mexican restaurant several times. I've always ordered an order of beans, and a cheese enchilata. I'll eat a bite or two of the enchilata and some beans, and take the rest home for SEVERAL meals. I've also had tortilla chips many times with no problems at all. I just make sure I chew, chew, chew. For New Year's Eve, I made the usual layered dip - with cream cheese, beans, salsa and topped with cheese. Put into the oven until melted -- YUMMY! I have been eating probably 1/4 c. with 4-5 tortilla chips daily, and it's been great. My doctor had told me I could eat whatever I wanted at my last visit in early December. My problem had been that I wasn't eating enough. I'm still working on that, but getting better.

I have tried a few things..I have had both hard and soft beef tacos with cheese, both are ok but i can only eat half of the soft but must of a hard one. I have also had a quisadilla with just cheese in it and i can eat 1/4 to 1/2 of it. Since i do good with the hard taco i am assuming that a few nachos with cheese would be ok but i havent tried yet...LisaMarie

Tortilla chips are great- they haven't made me sick yet, I just have to make sure I don't overdo it. Actually, Wendy's has a new item on their Value Menu- they have tortilla chips with their chili & some cheese sauce on them. The chili & cheese give you your protein, plus it makes the chips soft so they are easier to eat- very yummy!

Hey Vickie. I had mexican a few weeks ago. I ate two of the chips with salsa. I also had 2 very small cheese quesadillas and refried beans. I had no problems with it. Marcia
