I am so jealous!!
Hi Nancy, I love chili and it is the one thing I can eat most of the time with no problem. I do get tired of it, but send me your recipe, it sounds nice!! I will have to try it for a little variety!
I read that article on protein and it is awesome and I DO need to remember how important it is that I get enough. I have a friend who had this surgery 2 years ago and he is constantly on my case about the fact that I'm not eating enough protein and honestly I DO WANT TO, it's just not happening right now. I just ordered a new protein shake (chocolate mint) and as soon as I get it tomorrow, I'm going to start supplementing again. My old protein shake was hurting my stomach too! SHEESH! I can't win for trying.
But it will get better and I will keep trying! Glad to see I'm not alone!
Thanks hon!
Vi,
Have you tried toasted whole wheat pita pockets? I don't do well with bread either, and tend to avoid it, unless it's toasted to a black crisp (yuk), but toasted pita doesn't bother me at all unless I eat it too fast. Also, have you tried Genisoy soy crisps? They taste pretty good (my husband and 4 yr old even like them) and they have like 7 gms protein per 1 oz serving. Also, if the pitas go down okay, the health food section of your local store should have pita chips, which also have some protein. Those at least are some carbs you can try.
I don't really know what to tell you about meat or eggs. Pork chops hurt my chest, but all other meat sits fine with me. How about some fresh fish that has a really light and flaky texture? Like tilapia or trout? They are so light they may not bother you.
I hope things turn around for you soon.

Hey that's a good idea to try the toasted pita pockets! I'll give it a try. The soy crisps sound great too. I ate some revival soy chips and loved them and had no problem with them, so I'm guessing the genisoy crisps would go down the same way! Thanks for the tip, I'm going to pick some up tomorrow!!

P.S. I need to start buying more fish too. That's a good suggestion!

I wish I could help you but I still haven't tried many of the foods that others are eating. I'm still on soft foods and I'm very cautious about what I put in my mouth cause I've gotten sick with chest pains too many times. I know what you mean about getting sick of certain foods and trying to eat more to get more protein in. I think it will get easier when my surgeon releases me to eat all foods. Right now, I have no interest in food so it hard to eat the same thing over and over because I don't want to eat at all. I wish this lasts forever!! Good luck to you.

Hi Vi just read your post. I am right there with you. At first I was so excited. I was eating everything they told me. But now I just can only eat the stuff from the beinging. Breads and pasta are terrible. I can't eat any meat. I am sick on protein shakes and yogurt. But I have no
desire to eat. I am going for a Gall Bladder US tomorrow. I had a bad episode with pain under my ribs and into my rt side of my back on Mon. Then dry heaves for 2 hours. Since then I am so nausiated nothing sits
right. Down 55lbs but wish I could eat something normal with the family.
Good luck with the gall bladder. Hopefully that's not a problem, but if it is, look on the bright side, removing it would make your life a bit more normal! It could be what's causing these problems, right?
I'm getting stock in MAALOX or GAS X, as I have found that chewing on a tablet after I eat cuts down on the upset stomach woes I'd been having. Give it a try, those pains could be gas too!
Good luck!
Vi (who's at work now and wishing she were home)
