Eleven Weeks Post-Op Today!
Hi Sammie:
Good to hear from someone on the same day. Sounds like you are doing well. Did you find the time on pureed food difficult? I think we all wonder if we did the right thing at that time. What has been hardest for me, is when I think I am doing everything right, and the scale doesn't move for a few weeks. As long as the scale is going down,I feel great---but when it stays the same, it's the pits. I hurt my back and wasn't able to exercise for two weeks, and it really stopped my weight loss. But now I am doing OK. Thanks for introducing yourself.
Love, Santina
Welcome to the October Board!!! I love this board too because we all have so mu*****ommon!!!
My surgery was 10/13/05 and this week on Thursday I'll be 11 weeks out. This new way of eating, and shopping and preparing food is routine and normal to me now - PTL!!!! Thanksgiving was more challenging, but Christmas was a piece of cake!!! I even made fudge to give away, and didn't lick the spoon - I was so proud of myself!!
So welcome, glad you found us!!!
Much love, Carol V

Hello and welcome Santina!
I'm Sheryl and my surgery was on 10/17. As of today I'm down 54 lbs. I seem to have an iron pouch, so the nutritionist had me eating "regular" food by week 3. Besides this week(my son is on Christmas brea****il the 4th), I take a 1 hr water aerobics class and swim 1 mile+ (usually swim laps for an hour and I swim a mile in about 50 mins)/4 days week, do nautilus 2x/week, and have recently joined Curves. The rates at my Y have increased a ton, so as of end of this month it'll be just Curves, my Gazelle, and a hotel swimming pool they're letting me use for 15/month. It would take about 400 laps to get to 1 mile, but I figure I can water walk for an hour 4x/week. I love being in the water. It's good to have another serious swimmer in here. I have a seriously messed up back and I would never be able to walk 3 miles without a cane or major narcotics of some sort. I'm hoping as I get lighter my back problems will ease up some.
Like you, I've lost over a 100 lbs twice in my life so far, just to gain it back. 3 years ago I would never have considered this surgery. My sister had it and I thought it was the easy way out. Boy was I wrong. I'm doing more now to lose weight than I EVER did just dieting. I actually like working out, and I'm hoping that's going to be the key a healthier future for me. I will always love food, but now I'm trying to indulge only once in awhile instead of every day. It makes everything taste so much better.
I look forward to getting to know you better and I'm glad you found us!

Dear Sheryl:
You're doing super! So happy to be getting to know you. I really enjoy the swimming, also. The walking is new for me---I couldn't even make it to the mailbox B.S. Thank you for the warm welcome. Looks like we have a lot in common. Looking forward to knowing you better as we travel this journey together.
