flaxseed oil
I've been hearing such good stuff about flaxseed oil that I went to the health food store and bought some last week. It's the liquid refridgerated kind with lignans. I've been taking 1 tbsp/day. It's 120 calories, all from fat, so I was kinda scared, but I think it's really helping. I've lost weight, and even though I haven't had the bathroom issues many of you have had, it has made me even more regular. Plus it can prevent and dissolve gallstones, help chronic pain, prevent hair loss, and a billion other good things.
If you're constipated, maybe you should try some? Is anyone else taking this?

I grind my own flaxseed, and eat it every day. I've been doing this for several years, and it really has helped my health.
I'm quite lazy, and Tooter has an excellent resource page on the subject, so rather than repeat the virtues myself, here's a link:

Well, it sounds like flaxseed oil ought to be in my diet. My sister-in-law is a naturopathic doctor. I know she takes it every day in her breakfast drink. I wonder how it tastes? Is it yucky?
I've been having so many bathroom issues lately, that I've given birth to a nasty hemorrhoid. I hope this helps me out some with my constipation. I have tried the prunes and the prune juice the doctor told me to try. They're not getting it. Smooth Move works, but it wakes me in the night to go, with cramping. I've taken Colace, but it gives me diarrhea. I guess for me it's a very delicate balance.
When do you take it? Before meals? After meals? Breakfast?

I haven't added it to anything yet. I just take 1 tbsp right after dinner. Once in awhile I forget and take it right before bed. It doesn't taste bad at all. I bought the kind with lignans for the extra fiber. It was expensive. $36 for a big bottle. After it's gone I might try to grind my own, but I'm pretty lazy and that sounds hard (I don't have a coffee grinder and I hate doing dishes).
Even after surgery I was going to the bathroom every day, but sometimes there wasn't a lot there and it was so "light" it was all floaters(soooo sorry for the image). Now it seems a lot more solid and heavier and I am able to go more. Totally worth the extra calories from fat. And their a good fat too.
