How do you measure your weight loss?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering when you post how much you have lost, what is your starting point? I will be 7 weeks on Monday, and am only down 23 since the day before my surgery. I was on a pre-op diet for 3 weeks and lost 12, so total I am down 35, which makes me feel much better.
When you post how much you have lost by 1 month, 6 weeks, etc. is it from your highest? day before surgery? day after you got home?
Just curious!
Thanks,
Brenda
good morning
i started dieting seriously march 25 2005...was 385...decided in august i wanted to have the surgery to get rid of health issues..at time of my surgery oct 5 2005 i was 344..down 41 lbs on my own...on 1 month check up after surgery i was 314 lost 30 lbs first month...i am now at 289 and hovering must be my second stall so being patient now...but 55 lbs since surgery total..making me 4 lbs shy of 100 lbs all together
When I put my ticker up here, I use my weight at being wheeled into the operating room. I believe all of us have various starting points we could pick, that was just what I decided to do.
I'd lost 22 pounds during the six month supervised diet. I gained 20 of those back in the hospital. Since my goal weight has stayed the same throughout, I tend (for myself) to look at it not as how far I've come, but how much further I have to go. It's a goal, in my eyes, and I'm getting closer and closer, so I find that a rewarding viewpoint.
My starting point is the date of surgery (10/27/05): 317
Now: 274
I try not to weigh more than once a week. Pre-surgery when I would diet I would get so discouraged and feel so bad when I sepped on the scale and it didn't move, so I don't like to do that to myself.
A week after surgery I was actually up 10 plus pounds (probably from the IV fluids).
