To people that say we took the "easy way" to lose weight? I'm going to be spending a week with my mom and my MIL after Christmas, and I know someone is going to say it! I dont feel like getting into a long defensive argument, but we all know full well that this has not been easy in the least! Anybody else had to deal with this yet??? Rebecca 227/182/130

I say this: "Oh, yes you're so right -- it was so easy to have MAJOR surgery and get my guts chopped up and re-routed. Especially easy was the bowel prep for the MAJOR surgery -- not to mention the intense behavior modification of my eating habits and all the research I did for two years before the surgery. Oh, not to mention the recovery period where I have learned to eat to accomodate my stomach that now only holds 2 ounces -- and of course the MAJOR throwing up and foaming that accompanies when I overeat even the slightest bit." After that they are so embarrased about having said anything, you finish with, "Why can't you just be happy for me instead of being critical?" They shut up really quick. Hugs! SHeryl

I have dealt with that also and i also deal with my mother.... the food police. with her when she tells me i shouldnt eat something or "i told you wou have no self discapline" I respond "i am an adult and if i chose to put something in my mouth that is going to make me puke then it is my choice" for the ones who think it is the easy way out i tell them everything I had to go through and let them see what a day in my life is really like including fighting the head hunger and they usually have a whole new look at things after.
