My DH gets it from eating apples or citrus fruits and it is because he is allergic to them (citric acid especially). Do you have belly issues too from the protein drinks? If you are allergic, it could be causing other problems besides the lips. Kathy

Hi Kathy and welcome to the board! Isn't that weird about that apples? I developed a weird reaction to apples, cherries and certain other fruits too as an adult (ate them as a kid with no problem). They make my throat and my ears itch if I eat them raw, yet I have no problem eating them cooked. I tried peeling the skin and even soaking them in that fruit and veggie wash and still had the same reaction! After doing some research on the net I found out that it's some kind of cross sensitivity to pollen where you body actually thinks the fruit protein is the same type of invader and sets off the hay fever type response! My husband has tons of allergies, especially in the spring, so that kinda makes sense. He also has the itchy throat and EARS. Thanks for the welcome. It is so nice to be around others who are at the same "point" although we are all so different. I was a barfy frother for the first 6 weeks but the last 2 weeks have been much better! This is quite and adventure! Kathy

It just gives me a bad headache for about 30 minutes or so. It seems to be getting better though. Sorry I'm no help.
