Why I am grateful for WLSurgery
You are so right!
Sometimes it's easy to forget the 'can't wait to have my surgery' feeling!
I am grateful I was stopped in my tracks- I think I was on self-destruct mode and might have kept eating until I exploded!
I am grateful for having more energy and just plain feeling healthier. Everyday is NOT easy- as we all know- but still we are better off than we were before!
Keep up the good work Octoberites!

I am so grateful for my surgery. I didn't have to use the seat belt extender a couple of weeks ago on my vacation. I also fit better in the movie seat. I don't get marks on the sides of my legs from the sides of the movie seat. I am much more active and don't spend every evening in front of the tv. I have no problem carrying myself and laundry up and down the stairs. I have more energy and feel happy again. I don't have knee pain or heel spur pain anymore. I also no longer get headaches daily. I am wearing clothes two sizes smaller. I have lost 42 (6 before surgery) and have had no complications and have never vomited, dumped or had any nausea. I feel so thankful!!!! Susan
I am grateful for WLS Surgery because:
I feel physically better
I'm fitting into clothes that haven't fit for a very long time
I have not had any sweets since surgery
I can bend much easier
I can reach all the way around to hook my bra
I have more energy
I am so excited about all the changes I have to look forward to.

I want to be on board with this post, but I've had a very rocky start (very barfy, frothy, dehydrated). Give me another month to start the cheerleading.
I am, however, grateful that I had such a great surgeon, didn't have any life threatening complications, and have this great OH website to share, compare, and get moral support.

Dennis:
I am new to your Board, although I had my surgery on October 10, 2005. Strange, I never found this until today. Oh well, I am not all that computer savvy. But can't resist your Grateful List:
I am grateful for WLS because:
1. Am down 45#
2. On my good days, can walk 3miles, when I could barely walk to the mailbox before.
3. My clothes are feeling looser, and people are calling me "The shrinking Woman"
4. It has shown me even more, what a wonderful, and supportive husband I have been married to for 43 years.
5. Because now I have a future to look forward to--being able to be around for my grandchildren, and going and doing more with them
6. Thankful I can feel full after less than 1/3 of food I used to eat.
7. Haven't eaten or desired sweets
I have been drinking 4 oz of prune juice each day, and that has resolved constipation problem, if anyone is interested. Hope to be here more in the future. Question: Are you all drinking protein or getting most of it from your food.? What is the average amount of calories each day?
Santina
Santina...welcome to the October people surgery page...I don't know about eveyone else...but I am still taking at least one protein drink a day and sometimes two depending on my total intake of food...it can't hurt and only help...so I will continue to do this...as the more protein , we take in the better it is...go to fitday.com to track your food... and again welcome...Dennis
