Am I the only one NOT having trouble getting in enough water and calories?

I am so afraid that the weight is not going to come off. I have no trouble getting in calories or liquid. The scale is not wanting to move much for me. It is tough to keep it between 1000-1200 calories a day. I do get full when I eat but it takes much more than the three bites everyone else seems to get full on. I don't have problems with any kind of food. I want to stay lower carb but am not having much luck. After the 1st of the year my hubby is going back on a diet and I am going to steer him to the South Beach. I will be able to cook for both of us that way. Please forgive me if I sound like a big, cry baby. I just need to know am I the only one? Hugs, Dawn

Of course not Dawn. I feel exactly the same way as you, especially since I'm a VERY slow loser. I barely get 500 calories a day in, most of the time 300-400 and I still don't lose fast enough. The only think that makes me believe I will lose the weight is that I am eating much much much much much less than before. So it has to happen eventually.

It's ok Dawn. I know how you feel because I feel the same way. I'm a slow looser as well. I don't even get 700 calories in each day and I'm wondering if that's why I'm not loosing as much. It takes more than three bites to get me full as well. I can normally eat any type of food depending on my body's mood at that moment. Just stay focused and we'll get through this. I think we all have the same feelings and doubts. Take care! Keke

Hey Dawn, I'm in the same boat! Feels like we are going upstream too but I am believing the scale will drop even if it takes longer. I can't eat very much at all in the mornings but later in the day I can definitely eat more than I thought I would be able to. I think I am roughly staying between 8000 and 1100 calories most days. I have not had any food that makes me sick (except the grapes I ate too fast). My scale moves a tad and stays there for a week or two before it moves another bit. I am wondering how much of the calories I eat are actually absorbed. with RNY we are supposed to have the malabsorbtion but it does not really feel like that is the case for me. I know exercise will help if I will just get to doing it. But I think we will arrive at our goal! Just got to keep doing the right stuff. I definitely eat less than before surgery and I am learning to think about better food choices. And I do weigh nearly 30 pounds less so it gives me hope.

Dawn, I'm in exactly the same boat. It's a struggle for me to stick to around 1000 calories a day. I can easily go over. I'm not one of those people who never gets hungry or gets full from a couple of bites. I got the runs from chinese food once, but other than that, nothing I've eaten has bothered me unless I chewed too fast. I almost wi**** would. I'm working out for hours and hours per week to compensate for my ability to eat. I feel like I'm a slow loser too. Monday will be 8 weeks and I have lost 45 lbs. I do know that I'm converting a lot of fat into muscle. My doctor told me that when he saw me at 12 weeks he expected I'd be down 80 lbs. There just no way I'm going to lose 35 lbs in the next 4 weeks. I'm terrified he's going to be mad at me. Plus I see the nut again on Thursday and I have no idea how she's going to react to my portion sizes. This whole thing terrifies me and the only reason I'm staying positive is that I'm burning more calories than I'm eating, so I know I'll lose it even if it takes me longer. They say it's the journey and not the destination that's important, right???? Take care, Sheryl 292/246/1??

Dawn, I'm the same way. I got a call from a friend who had surgery 3 days after me. She said she can only drink 2 oz. of liquid at a time. I told her I have no problem drinking 10 oz. of water in a half hour. She had me thinking maybe there was something wrong with me. I guess we are all just different. I don't have a problem with eating too many calories because I'm just not hungry. But I am able to eat enough to get in all my protein on most days. I don't ever really feel full. Oh, and that friend asked how much I had lost and I told her 35 lbs. and she said she has lost 42 lbs. She was saying "Wait till you see me, I look so different!" I don't look or feel different at all. I am seeing little changes, but nothing drastic. She said she has gone from a size 22 to a 16! I'm still pretty much wearing my 22s. It's hard not to compare ourselves to each other. But, I guess we have to remember that eventually we will all end up in the same place, if we all work hard. Marcia

OK, we are all apparently insane. None of us are 500 lbs. and we should not be losing 10 lbs. a week. At my surgeon's information session (around 40 people) there was a wide range of people with different health issues & weights. He said that everyone losses at about the same rate. Men a bit faster, but then they are usually on the higher end of the scale. He said we should see 2-5 lb. loss per week. When I met with him for my 1st appt. he said he would like to see me lose 2-3 lbs. per week for the 1st 6 months. That is 48 - 72 lbs. for the whole 6 months. How much did your Drs. say you would lose each week? I'm just wondering because they say safely 2-3 lbs. in our weight ranges is really great. I know that I did WW for a long time & if I lost 2-3 lbs. EVERY week I wouldn't have ever needed this surgery. It is just a matter of doing it every week, and so far there has only 2 weeks where I haven't lost 2 lbs. and several where I have lost 3-4. What is your average?

I lost 18lbs the first couple of weeks and then didn't loose anthing for 2 weeks, then the last 3 days before my 1 month anniversary I dropped 3 more lbs to make my one month total -21. The second month I snuck in a couple of weigh ins even though I said I wouldn't. The scale didn't move for 3 weeks and then in the last 1.5 weeks I have dropped 10 more lbs. Now I am down a total of 31 lbs. Thank God. Hugs, Dawn

Dawn~ (((HUGS))) I still struggle to get in my liquids, but I have no problems putting away foods. I can eat 3.5 oz of fish, shrimp or chicken and 2.5 oz of ground beef or roast. On top of that I eat 1/3-1/2 a cup of veggies or fruit along with my meal. My dr. does not focus on low carb at all. He wants me to eat from all the food groups and says (?) that I only need 40 grams of protein a day. I am though barely cracking 650 calories a day, but I have NEVER gotten full on the 2-3 bites I hear everyone talking about. I am currently following WW new plan, because if left to my own devices, I will eat crap. The surgery really made no difference for me, except that I can eat less...I don't dump. Hang in there...that is the only choice... Jenn 264.8/229.8/1??
