Reactions from others?
I visited my Grandma yesterday and I told her it had already been 6 weeks since surgery. She asked how much I have lost and I told her 35 lbs., but 12 of that was during the 2 week pre-op diet that I had to do. She says, "Are you eating too much?" No one has noticed at all, except hubby, but most of the time I think he's just saying it to make me happy. When I went for my 6 week appt. with my dietician, she remeasured me and I've only lost 9.5". It was 1.5" in my neck, .5" in my arm, 1.5" in my bust, waist and hips and 3" in my thigh. I thought it would have been a lot more, but I'm still very happy with how things are going.
Anyone else have a crazy reaction from other people?

My mom and husband say they can tell, but that's it. At Thanksgiving my dad told me I didn't look like I'd lost even a lb (I was down 35 or so at the time) and just last week my MIL asked how much I'd lost and when I said 42 her question was "From where?". I know she didn't say that to be hurtful, but she keeps waiting for my boobs to shrink and is amazed that after 42 lbs they're exactly the same cup size. They were the same cup size at 160 lbs too, but she thinks this surgery is the miracle that's going to amazingly shrink my overdeveloped chest. When this is all over and I'm done losing weight, I'm planning on a reduction and lift.
In the meantime, she should stop worrying about my chest and take a look at my butt. It's shrinking big time! I could lose a 100 lbs and my Dad will still say he can't tell the difference. It's just who he is.

I've had some of my coworkers comment on my weight loss- nothing negative so far. My family hasn't seen me yet, because they are all in Indianapolis and I am in DC. I can't wait for Christmas- hopefully they will notice a big change since I haven't seen any of them since I was 54 pounds heavier!
Don't let the negative comments get you down- some people just don't have tact, and they don't think before they speak. And some people may even be jealous of your success!
And Sheryl, maybe since your MIL wants your boobs to be smaller, she will offer to pay for the reduction/lift......LOL
I'd bet a million dollars that after I'm through losing weight if insurance denies my claim for a reduction/lift that she will do exactly that. They are very staunch southern baptists and I think my big chest offends their delicate sensibilities. We get along great now and I think of them like my second parents, but 13 years ago they about died when their son brought home a loud, big chested, jewish girl. My parents were none to happy with John either, but they soon got over it. I knew from our second date that I was going to marry him.
